I booked a grasslands tour with Chaolu at quite short notice, (he was recommended by the Holiday Inn) and he picked me up at the hotel and we set off for a great day in the grasslands. He speaks excellent English and is very knowledgeable about both the local culture and history and also has a very good sense of humour and I really enjoyed his company. As I was on my own it was very easy just to go anywhere we chose and enjoy the beauty of the landscape...it might not have been very green, but the sky was very blue and it was so worth the trip.
On the way back we stopped at an excellent local restaurant.... get him to take you there, the lamb soup ..which comes with potatoes and noodles to dip in it was amazing as was the pork we had to accompany it and very very reasonably priced.
Having enjoyed the tour we agreed he would take me on a city tour on sunday which again was great and i got to see this great city and it's surroundings and understand a little more about the local culture.
Would thoroughly recommend him it was a really fun weekend and he was very good company and very reasonable when compared to the other operator who offered me a city tour but wouldnt take me to the grasslands.
