I travel to Shanghai to do plant audits a few times a year on a tight schedule. I hired Angela to be my guide last trip on a free Saturday I had. Her English is pretty good- better than many other "fluent" colleagues I have. She brought me to see the Yu Garden site, a temple there, and then the commertial street near the Buns. What a day! Really fun. I got to try famous Wan Ton (steamed buns) from the place that invented them 500 years ago! (So they say). When I bought souvenirs for my family, and she was able to get a price a small fraction of the sticker price. Teapot for us, a toy drone for my son, and a jade necklace for my daughter. I felt comfortable and got a taste of not being a tourist. Never felt lost like I had before. Thanks again Angela! I plan to hire her again this spring when I will come back with my family.
