I want to especially thank you for doing such an amazing job organizing and facilitating my presidents recent trip to China. He has a chemical allergy and I was very concerned I could not accommodate him in China. In fact, top notch hotels in the USA regularly can not satisfactorily accommodate his allergy. Sarah, against all odds, you were able to have several hotels and several drivers all accommodate his sensitivity perfectly. For my short visit to Xiamen I was looking for an experienced guide and interpreter. Via Synotrip I got in contact with Sarah.

Before arriving in China she mailed me some suggestions on what to do and to see in and around Xiamen. We decided to visit the Tulous (old earthen Hakka houses).
On the day of our appointment she picked me up early at my hotel and to my surprise and delight she brought with her a guidebook of Xiamen for which I was looking for but could not lay my hands on it myself. 
The tour de Tulous" was a pleasant and memorable day for me not in the least becoz of Sarah's knowledge about the Tulous and other points of interest!
The unique architecture of the Tulous made the long trip by car (traffic jam included) to see them absolutely worthwhile. 

So if you are planning a visit to Xiamen and U are looking for a reliable, professional and friendly guide and interpreter I strongly recommend Sarah.

Three word review:

Sarah is fantastic.

 

Longer version:

I just spent a week in Xiamen on business, first time ever in Mainland China. I was apprehensive, given all of the things I had read about to watch out for. I needn't have been, given's Sarah's able and professional help.

What can I say that hasn't already been said in her other reviews? She is always early (except the one time she arrived on time, and apologized for being "late.") Seriously, she is super reliable. She also was invaluable as a business interpreter. Not only would she do the job at hand, but would pull me aside later to explain subtext and context and other stuff I should know about what was said.

She has visited the US and is currently working as a supply chain logistics manager for a US-based company. So to say she is competent as a business assistant is an understatement. But she also brings a cross-cultural understanding that is very helpful.

Xiamen is a very interesting city—not nearly as "western" as some of China's bigger cities like Shanghai and Beijing. I saw maybe a dozen other westerners in the week I was there. So, you'll be in an environment that is nearly 100% Chinese language. It helps greatly to have someone like Sarah helping.

(As an aside, can very much recommend the Sheraton Xiamen as a good western hotel from which to make base.)

The last day we had together, we had finished our meetings early and had a day to spare. I told Sarah she was welcome to bail from this job and head to her next gig. But she insisted on using the day to give me a tour of the city, including the very interesting nearby Gulangyu Island, which was great and something I probably would not have done without her prompting. Again: helpful and professional. 

My advice: as soon as you plan your trip to Xiamen, grab Sarah for your needed dates if she is available.

Hi

Visited Xiamen last week (April 2015)  , with my wife and 2 kids. We used the services of Sarah for a one day Xiamen Trip and also for a full day tour of the Tulous. Even on the third day she helped us out when we wanted a rental car for visiting the Volcano Park. Not the typical commercial tour operator who are concerned primarily about business revenue, Sarah was very prompt ,helpful , knowledgeable and took care of our needs.

We are not from China and and we would highly recommend Sarah , for visitors who are looking to spend a few days in Xiamen and want to make best use of their time visiting places with a reliable person.

We hired Sarah to be our guide for our company's vacation in Xiamen.  We did not want the usual tourist locations and activities so it was an unusual challenge.  We explained to several guides about our needs but only Sarah really listens and tries to accommodate.  She managed to do more research and planned a wonderful itinerary for us.  Most importantly, Sarah is not like a typical tour guide, her positive energy, nice character and ready laughter made us felt like we were going out with a friend.  All of us treasure her company and friendship, and were sad to part with her...

Well, Sarah. Thank you for making this vacation a memorable one.  Hope to catch up with you when we come to Xiamen again! Perhaps another trip?!
