Lot of postings on the internet say you don't need a tour guide in Hong Kong because most people are able to converse in English. I think otherwise. It is better to have a tour guide be it in Hong Kong or mainland China. It can be a conducted tour or a private guide. If you select the first one you are stuck to its standard itinerary and the day may not be well utilized. Jun was my guide for the few days I stayed in Hong Kong and she delivered an excellent tour. Worth mentioning are a few places she took me for dining like the authentic Chinese dim sum restaurant and the hot pot restaurant which I am sure no conducted tour would have done that. That is the advantage of a local help. I let her do all the tour planning for me and at the end of my stay I found that every hour was best utilized. Jun is much a nice and excellent person, perfectly fluent in English and I would recommend her to anybody who would like to have a customized tour of Hong Kong
