I visited Lijiang last year and had Carolin show me some places in the local area. We went to some great places to eat and she showed me some of the places that only locals know about. Had some very tasty food and even went to a BBQ that has coals at the table for self-cooking! She was excellent at teaching me some Mandarin and had much knowledge of the local art, jade market, food, minorities, music, culture...ect. She took me to see a 500 year old camilla tree in full bloom, Amazing!!

Caroline was a very good tour guide. She elaborated excellent tours, helped us with finding a good hotel / restaurants, interesting souvenirs and bargaining and explained her Naxi culture in a very vivid and descriptive way. She was always very polite, always on time and we loved her special kind of humor. Caroline also had a good sense for children. Our children (ages 12 + 9), who traveled with us, had lots of fun, too. We had a wonderful time together in Lijiang and we highly recommend Caroline as an well organized and experienced as well as funny tour-guide.

Caroline takes you to the great  photo-op spots, knows interesting restaurants with golden trouts, yak dishes, fried veggies or barbeques. She has so much information to share eg. on the Naxi and other tribes, the history of Lijiang, Shuhe, Shangrila, why things are as they are... many trivial inputs that only a local would know. Touring with her as our guide is touring with a local flair and flavor. Her stories make you appreciate the culture even more. She has even helped me with my 'slight altitude sickness' due to the extreme glare from the snow at the peak of the Jade Snow Dragon Mountain. She ensures that time is maximized per area we visited, so much so that since we had extra time before our flights we took an additional tour of the Mu vacation palace near the airport. She is excellent at helping you negotiate with the locals especially on shopping, and if you have a specific request ( Ao yu or a Bai tribe's maomao found on top of the roof  ( for good luck), a good Dongba book or a Tibetan horn, she can help you find those interesting finds and can tell you if the price is worthy or not. She knows her craft well.Thanks Caroline, the trip to Lijiang and Shangrila was wonderful.
