We booked Tom rather late into our trip, and we're so glad we did.  Our trip to Xi'an would not have been nearly as memorable without him.  Not only was Tom knowledgeable about the sights (obviously an important factor), but he was funny, kind - and very informed and willing to talk about other historical and cultural topics.  He's willing and able to follow his guests lead related to the itinerary and conversation.  It's refreshing to have a guide who's willing to go off script a little....  The van was roomy and comfortable.  The driver great!  The lunch he arranged, lovely.  We recommend Tom very highly.
 

Tom was by far the best tour guide we have ever had and ever had in China too. Tom arranged everything for us in Xian, from recommending a hotel to stay in to airport pick-up to showing us the sights in Xian. Even prior to arrival in China, Tom, simply based on a phone call, went out of his way, to purchase train tickets for us. With two children in tow, Tom made the whole trip pleasant and enjoyable. Knowledgeable and experienced, Tom walked us through the history of various attractions while keeping his stories current and interlaced with humor. Without Tom, we would not have been able to experience the sights and sounds of Xian from a local perspective. Tom took us to the best (and affordable) places to eat taking into account our dietary restrictions - without him, we would not have been able to go to many of these places which were tucked away in little alleys. Tom even helped arrange for guides and hotels in other locations, going to the trouble of cancelling our existing booking to ensure we get better and honest service. But for Tom, we would have ended up at some obscure hotels in our next stop at Ping Yao. We are glad we had Tom with us throughout our entire stay in Xian and only wish that every other guide in China and other places are as professional, helpful and thorough as him.  

I booked Tom for one day in Xian. I enjoyed his company very much. He is knowledgeable, friendly and funny.

To arrange my one day tour I corresponded with Tom via email, he offered guidance on putting together an itinerary that best suited my requirements. This also included airport pick up / drop off. We visited the Terra-cotta Army Museum, The City Wall, Xi'an Park, Goose Pagoda and Muslim Quarter & Mosque.

In summary, I have no hesitation in recommending Tom as a tour guide. You will not be disappointed.

We were so luck to hook up with Tom at the History Museum. After that he helped us arrange private car transportation to the Terra Cotta Warriors and the airport.  Definitely will refer him to friends and family who visit China. He has excellent english and is so knowledgeable.

Recently spent three days in Xi'an with Tom as our tour guide.  We could not have asked for a better guide.  He was EXCELLENT!  We were traveling with my mother and our two small children (5 and 2) and he did absolutely everything to accommodate us. He is knowledgeable, personable and friendly and just a really great guy.  At the end of our stay in Xi'an we took the train to Beijing.  Tom was with us all the way to the platform, getting us on board the train and helping us to get settled.  He went above and beyond to help us.  If you're going to Xi'an, Tom Liang should be your only tour guide choice!

Tom is definitely THE tour guide you need in Xi'an.  I have used his service several times when my family and friends came to visit us in China.
