About Me
I am a fanatic of history and continue to read many books to know more about this ancient city, Xian, my home town. I look forward to sharing what I know with you, so that you may have more insight about Chinese culture and history as well as the places on the itinerary of your tour.

Bryan was our tour guide in June 2014 and is EXCELLENT. What I appreciated about Bryan is that he was able to put things into context for me. Many Chinese tour guides simply cite something as being associated with this Dynasty or that Dynasty. As a westerner I am not familiar with the time periods of the Dynasty's and Bryan was good at saying "1,200 years ago." His English is excellent and he has a good sense of humor. Walking through the history museum you can ask about any object and Bryan is able to explain it. From picking us up at the airport, to visiting the terra cotta warriors, to seeing the sights in Xi'an, Bryan made everything wonderful. Xi'an is a must see in China and I would highly recommend Bryan as your tour guide.

We asked for a Tour very short-term. Bryan himself was not available, but he recommended his best friend Andrew.
As we are traveling with a 2 year old boy that still needs his nap we had to be very flexible with the tour - and it was. I was sick, too (a little cold) and so we had to short first day of 2 day tour earlier, and that was not a problem, too. And we nevertheless seen everything we wanted to in our great two days with Andrew. We could stay and watch or shop whenever we wanted and Andrew was perfect discreet or helpfull if needed.
We are living in China for a few months now, and normally our boy is not very familiar to chinese people (they touch and beset him too much - every time we go to crowded places he really is "attacked") - but Andrew was so perfect retiring and helped stoping these situations that our child stayed and played with him alone while we could watch the sights in peace, when we wanted to...usually chinese (and often all black haired people) often are not even allowed to touch him. So he liked him very much.

Another hearty recommendation for Bryan Bai Chen with whom we had the pleasure of touring Xian for two days in early June 2013. . We chose him based on the multitude of wonderful reviews he had in various forums on various websites. All of those reviews were accurate. He was professional, reliable, dedicated, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, intelligent, friendly, etc. He truly wanted us to enjoy ourselves, learn about the history and see the sights of Xian. His passion for his work and love of the history of his city was evident and contributed to our experience. Whether helping us find a restaurant to suit our tastes, a clean bathroom , bottled water or a shady spot, he was always looking out for our happiness. We also used his driver for the round trip airport transfers and he was a pleasure as well- driving safely and pleasant to be with. You cannot have a better guide than Bryan Bai.

Bryan was my guide in Xi'an in March 2013. As promised, he arranged for me to be collected from the airport in a comfortable car on the evening of my arrival. The following morning he picked me up punctually at my hotel and took me up onto the city walls. From there we went to see the remains of a Neolithic village at the Banpo Museum, and then drove out to see the terracotta warriors. Bryan spoke good English, had a pleasant sense of humour, and was both knowledgeable and interesting as a guide. He certainly had the ability to communicate his enthusiasm for his subject. He let me take things at my own pace and was good at answering my questions. I didn't want to stop for lunch, so we only had a brief coffee break, but he showed no signs of fatigue or impatience. He didn't try to lure me into expensive shops in the hope of earning a commission; and when I did want to buy some souvenirs, he was anxious to make sure that I wasn't fleeced. At then end of our tour he took me back to the airport, and remained with me until I went through security. Altogether, Bryan helped to make my visit to Xi'an memorable and enjoyable. I recommend him highly.
