Dear Jagath, I traveled with a group of friends on a pilgrimage to Buddhist historical sites a few years back. Jagath was recommended to be our guide throughout our stay. I cannot say enough good things about Jagath. He was professional, knowledgeable, personable and made every effort to accommodate and answer our questions whether it was about our travel itinerary or personal needs. We started our journey from Colombo and weaved all the way up to Anuradhapura where we attended Vesak ceremonies. Besides visiting Buddhist historical sites, Jagath also took us to shows, markets, restaurants and the countryside showcasing and sharing his Sri Lankan heritage and country’s history which were both educational and enchanting. We just returned last week from a wonderful trip and hope that our recent experiences will help others when searching for drivers and guides in Sri Lanka.
While planning our first visit we contacted seven drivers about four months in advance, with a tentative 12 day itinerary starting first week of February, and covering the most important attractions of the island.
Our original itinerary included two days in Trincomalee, not knowing that it would fall in the middle to end of the Monsoon season on that part of the island.
Out of the seven drivers contacted, Jagath of Jagath Tours, was the only one that suggested another destination because of the high probability of rain and the possibility of many hotels and restaurant closures before the start of the season.
His first response included all his information with pictures and specifics about pricing for his services and also entrance charges to parks and monuments and his fully insured vehicles, every detail spelled out in advance, just perfect professional business procedures as we are accustomed too.
We were able to complete all the planning in advance, some hotels we booked ourselves but most were booked by Jagath after agreeing on the hotel selection and price. All this without even an advance deposit from our side! Only two hotels booked directly by us didn’t include driver accommodations but Jagath took care of that.
Jagath took excellent care of us, not only as a great driver, but it was like having a professional tour guide friend that seemed to know everybody, traveling with you for 12 days. It was an extraordinary asset to have immediate answers to everything, solutions to any unexpected problem or situation, a guide to any and all the attractions, advice on food, drinks and restaurants in any town, it was much better than we ever expected at any price!
By the way, the four of us were vaccinated for Hepatitis A and Typhoid protection and used mosquito repellent Deet wipes every day and didn’t get a single bite during our stay that included hiking several times, white water rafting and camping near Yala for 3 days. We followed Jagath’s advice on our daily three meals and restaurants, and didn’t even get the slightest case of stomach discomfort!!!
We quickly became good friends and while in Kandy, he invited us to his house where his wife and mother prepared a great typical Sri Lankan diner and we were lucky to spend a few hours with his wonderful family.
We are experienced independent world travelers and can assure you that Jagath is a great, professional driver and tour guide that will quickly understand and adapt to any of your needs while pampering you around his beautiful country. Just search for Jagath Tours for his contact information.

Jagath is the BEST!!

 

I highly recommend Jagath as a tour guide for Sri Lanka,
He knows where all the good restaurants and good shopping deals are.  The recommendations for the accommodations were great!  We got to cover so much ground and did so much in 10 days!  We even got to meet his family and have a traditional home cooked Sri Lanka meal!! (best experience)

Jagath is an absolute life saver!  He went out of his way to get me an ENT specialist Dr. to check my ear infection out during our visit in Sri Lanka.
