We recently returned from a trip to Asia and which included several days in Guangzhou - what a fantastic city!  Before our trip, we decided to hire a guide while in Guangzhou in order to make the best use of our time and decided to hire Felix as our guide.  He turned out to be a terrific guide but more importantly, a great person for us to hang around with.

Felix helped us to arrange for car to pick us up at Guangzhou airport since we were arriving late in the evening and we had no problems with meeting the driver who then took us to our hotel.  The next day Felix met us in the morning and we discussed and planned out an itinerary for the next two days.  We decided to use the metro to get around the city and which worked great since Guangzhou's metro is pretty extensive and allows you to get to many areas without having to deal with the traffic.  Feliz impressed us with his enthusiasm and general knowledge of the city and was able to take us from place to place without any snags.  He would wait patiently for us outside while we visited various temples and other sites.  On our second day, we decided to change our itinerary slightly and Felix was able to adapt to our needs and re-adjust the itinerary to accommodate us. 

On our last day in Guangzhou, when we were just sightseeing on our own, Felix even took the time to retrieve some shoes we had purchased for our daughter the day before but mistakenly left behind at the store.  Felix took the initiative on his own to get the shoes and bring them to us at the train station just as we departed for Hong Kong, and wouldn't take any reimbursement for his time or expenses.  That pretty much sums up the kind of person you can expect to help you in your travels in Guangzhou.  If we ever get back there, will definitely be in touch with Felix to see if he's available as our guide again.
