The tour starts at the main entrance of your hotel.
Depending on the location of your hotel/time of the day and season, we will start the tour either in the old or in the new Dubai areas. The tour can be adjusted and tailor made according to your interests and expectations, however I have designed a tour, which covers the most interesting and spectacular spots to visit in Dubai including the places that you will never see when you are on a tour with a big group in a big bus. I will familiarize you with my Dubai in order for you to have a good orientation when exploring the city on your own after our tour.
We will visit Dubai Marina, which is a futuristic, newly developed area consisting of the largest man-made marina, surrounded by 300 high rise buildings. All of them are architectural masterpieces.
After a short stroll along the marina, we proceed to Palm Jumeirah, another iconic landmark of Dubai. While driving along the trunk of the largest artificial island on earth and stop at Hotel Atlantis known for its aquatic designs and the Atlantis themed aquariums as well as the Aquaventure Park.
The next stop will be Souq Madinat, which is an authentic replica of a traditional souq of this region, located in the heart of the beautiful resort Madinat Jumeirah, right opposite to Burj Al Arab.
We continue along the Jumeirah Beach Road until we reach the Jumeirah Mosque for a photostop. The Jumeirah Mosque is the most famous mosque in Dubai, because of its beautiful islamic architecture and it is the only mosque open to non Muslims.
On our way to the traditional heritage areas of Dubai, we pass by Zabeel Palace, the residence of the ruling family of Dubai.
The creek is a natural water inlet, that divides the city in two sides, Bur Dubai and Deira. In Bur Dubai we walk through Bastakiya, which is were the first permanent houses were built with coral stones and mortar about a hundred years ago. Today, Bastakiya has been restored and renovated to its original beauty, just how it was during the time when pearl trading generated most of the regions revenue. All the houses have a purpose. There are art galleries, small museums, restaurants and even a hotel. During the summer month, it is too hot to enjoy a walk in between the buildings, so we visit the Dubai Museum inside the Al Fahidi Fort, which is equally historic and interesting.
Meena Bazaar, also called the textile market, is close by and we dive right in to shop for textiles, exotic materials, Pashminas and local outfits or we just marvel at the colorful displays and meet the friendly merchants.
We reach the other side of the creek after a short ride on a traditional wooden boat and arrive directly at the entrance of the vibrant spice market. These spices are brought to Dubai by traditional wooden dhows from Iran, India, Somalia and Madagascar, just like hundreds of years ago.
After a short walk, we enter the Gold Souq, where 10 tonnes of gold are being sold in many small shops in the shape of the most original pieces of jewellery that you will ever see in your life.
Now it is time to see it all from above. We head on towards Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall, which is the largest Mall of the region with just under 1000 shops and many other entertainment facilities. I will accompany you the the Burj Khalifa reception if you have book tickets with me in advance. If not, I will explain the layout of the Mall to you before releasing you into shopping heaven.
Do not miss the dancing fountains. They are spectacular and there are also plenty of nice restaurants along the lake from where you can watch the show.
Whenever you decide it is time to return to your hotel, you can do so by taxi or metro. Both options are very cost effective.
I can't wait to welcome you in Dubai!
See you soon,
Ute
