Bukit melawati was the administrative center of the Selangor sultanate in the 18th and 19th century. It is a historical place where there is a fort was built on the summit during the Sultanate's reign to fight against the Dutch. There is still several artifacrs left from the past such as the cannons, a flat stone used for beheading offenders, royal graves, a poisonous well, lighthouse and others.

Besides, there is a lot of monkeys at the hill. You can feed the monkeys but just be careful because the monkeys can go wild. Even you don't want to feed the monkeys, but if you bring any food the monkeys will automatically come to you.

Tourist are allowed to drive their own car to visit Malawati Hill. As the provided Tourist Train are only operated on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday from 9.00am to 6.00pm. Fees for the Tourist Train is RM5 per adult and RM3 per child. The tourist train will bring you to the Malawati Hill and Freshwater Fish Park.

Firefly is also known as lightning bug. The habitat for this fireflies is the Berembang trees (type of mangrove trees) only. You can't see it on any other trees. Therefore it can only be seen along the Selangor river at Kg. Kuantan. The tree will turn into flashes of lights like Christmas tree at nightfall. The tree continue to flashes till morning, just the human eyes can't see it during the broad daylight. This type of fireflies couldn't live without the Berembang tree, because the source of food is the nectar of the tree. The size of the firefly is like a grain rice.

You need to see and feel it yourself. The experience is priceless because it won't be the same like you see it in the pictures. Pictures can't let you experience the flashes of light, a closer look of the firefly, and play closely with the firefly with your own hands. For nature's lover I highly recommend you to experience it.
