The Lao Bian dumpling restaurant in Shenyang is very famous, as it is the original location of the now nationwide chain. Lao Bian is one of the oldest restaurants in Shenyang, and nearly all visitors are sure to make a stop here.
The restaurant has a very big selection of dumplings and other dishes. Waiters with “tea shooters”, teapots with very long spouts, can very skillfully and accurately “shoot” tea in your cup from far across the table.
If you go with a large group and dine in a private room, the staff may give you a presentation about the history of the restaurant, and if you order it, a demonstration of “lucky dumpling soup”.

Recently debuted in Shenyang, Subway now has four locations around town. Unlike McDonald’s and KFC, Subway remains relatively unknown to Chinese people, but still seems to be catching on slowly. Those craving a delicious sandwich can either make it themselves or head to Subway, as few other places in Shenyang offer such a Western delicacy.
The stores are exactly the same as any other Subway in the world in just about every way, including price. Those who can decipher the Chinese placemat can even read about everyone’s favorite weight-loss spokesman, Jared Fogel!

Newly opened in 2008, New York Pizza is the official recipient of Synotrip.com’s prestigious “Best Pizza in Shenyang Award”. Owned and operated by American Stephen Rome, this is the place in Shenyang to go for a slice. Hand-tossed crust, loads of cheese, real pepperoni, and excellent sauce will make you feel like you’re eating pizza in the Big Apple, and rocks the socks off Pizza Hut any day. And they can deliver too! They also offer fresh baked pretzels. Salads, chicken wings, and chips are reportedly coming soon.
The downside to New York Pizza is the sitting area. The pizza shop shares its location with Baskin Robbins Ice Cream, so the atmosphere doesn’t quite feel like a pizza parlor and the seating is very limited. The quality of the pizza however, more than makes up for any deficiency in seating arrangements.

Many of the dishes here are not commonly found in Shenyang, but they’re not so unusual that they might make you feel uncomfortable or nervous about eating them.
The owners of the restaurant are Christians. If it’s someone’s birthday ask the staff to sing Happy Birthday or Christian songs.
