Its construction was inspired by a Greek Temple of the Four Winds and is designed by William Henry Playfair in 1818. The construction of this astronomical observatory finished in 1822. In the main gall there is a pillar which supports the telescope. The building retains some of the original instruments like the Frauenhofer and the Cooke telescope.
