Don't be shy and try some of the dishes you are not familiar with... if you don't know what it is, just point at your neighbour's plate: noodle soups, Pad Thai, Kanom Jeen (cold rice vermicellis) or Hoi Tod (oyster omelet) for 20 to 30 baht per plate. The drinks are usually sold by another person walking around.

Just like the two other markets around bangkok, the definition of 'floating market' is a bit stretched, the place being in fact more of a riverside market. The canal here is very narrow and only few boats are parked all alongside the riverbank and below a low bridge, cooking for customers who sit at low tables all along the water. Eating is always the highlight of a floating market visit, sitting on a little wooden stool not higher than 10 cm and ordering a dish cooked on a tiny wooden boat anchored just next to your table is such a fun and exotic experience!

Phra Pathom Chedi, situated in Nakhon Pathom is the tallest Buddhist reliquary with its 127 m (417ft) of height. It is built in 4th century and it consists of four shrines. Its name means the Holy chedi of the Beginning, and it is probably the earliest Buddhist monument in Thailand. It is built in Indian and Khmer style. King Rama IV ordered its restoration which ended in 1870.

Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha is located in the historical center of Bangkok within the grounds of the Grand Palace. It is made of green jadeite, and dressed in gold. The name emerald refers only to its color. Today it is most revered Buddha image in the world. It is believed it was made in India in the 1st century BC, even though there are some other assumptions about its origin. In the past the powers of the Emerald Buddha were associated with purification of evil spirits and diseases. King Rama I brought the statue and built a temple for it. There are no monks in the temple.
