Liyuan Theatre is a joint venture by Qianmenjianguo Hotel and Beijing Theatre in Oct. 1990, which is the first theatre in Beijing that presents tea ceremony. Located inside the hotel, it was listed as the best Night Show Theatre in Beijing for 7 years in a row. The theatre mainly consists three parts: Opera House; Exhibition Room and a Souvenir Shop. The Opera House covers two parts, a stage which is 8 meters tall, 12 meters long and 7 meters wide, as well as the 800 audience seats.

The same as walking around the Forbidden City and savoring the Peking Roast Duck, watching Peking Opera in Liyuan Theatre is an integral part for most tourists visiting Beijing. For the last decade, it staged more than 3,800 shows with millions of audiences including dignitaries from other countries. With its expertise in presenting Peking Opera in a special way, the Liyuan Theatre won great applause from visitors home and abroad. It is the first theatre that presents shows all year round with hundreds of audience in China.

Tip: Please get to the theatre 30 minutes in advance to see how the performer make up which is quite popular with foreign tourists.

Built in 1984, the Chaoyang Theartre is an arena specializing in acrobatic performance. It is one of the fixed places certified by the Beijing Municipal Government for presenting shows to tourists. Originally, the shows presented in the theatre were dancing and opera for visitors home and abroad in the middle and late 1980s. Later on, the Chaoyang Theatre stood out by performing acrobatics only. After over 20 years professional operation, it established a famous cultural brand which is “For watching Acrobatics, go to Chaoyang Theatre”. The Chaoyang Theatre is located in the middle of Eastern 3rd Ring Road which is the center of CBD in Beijing. Convenient transportation and culture-friendly atmosphere made it an important place for the nightlife in Beijing. It has received more than 5 million audiences home and abroad, including the dignitaries from foreign countries who spoke highly of the exquisite performance.

Dazhongxiang Night Market

Night markets are good places to sample Lanzhou's delicious snacks.

Today I am at Lanzhou's Dazhongxiang night market, the largest and most famous night market in the capital. The diversity of food and shops here makes it a wonderful, lively place to visit.

The Workers Stadium north gate is now officially operating at full capacity. With Vics, Flair and now Mix, clubbers have no
shortage of dance floor space. Mix is Beijing's own Ghetto Fabulous. A roaster of international guest DJs and cheap drinks
keep the large sunken dance floor pumping 'till the wee hours.

On a hutong dotted with several hostels, Pass By is a well-established travelers’haunt. Relocated in a restored courtyard
house down a hutong east of Qian Hai in 2002, Tibetan-themed Pass-by is more gathering place than nightspot, with an
extensive English-language library, a useful message board, rotating photo exhibits on the walls, and a good mix of Chinese
and foreign regulars. 

This newly opened Bar and Restaurant offers you a nice selection of European food and drinks. Their specialty is the house burger. You can also have here Greek Souvlaki skewers with Tzatziki, which is my favorite. 

For drinks they offer everything a good equipped European bar should have: international wine, cocktails, longdrinks, shooters and of course a lot of different kinds of imported beer. 

They also have free WiFi available. While waiting for your food you can play kicker, dart or pool. 

If you want to escape China for a while and have a short trip to Europe, that's the place to be. 

Sinan Mansions’ heritage dates back to 1920 when the first buildings south of French Garden (now Fuxing Park) on Rue Lafayette (now Fuxing Road) were built. In the ensuing decade, the plot had developed into a hub of high society where dignitaries, entrepreneurs, professionals and renowned artists frequented and lived.

Now It is an immense redevelopment of 49 colonial mansions from the '20s and '30s into four projects: the Hotel Massenet; a commercial stretch of F&B and retail; luxury condos; and corporate villas. It's been ten years in the making. It took a while to satisfy the gov't planners, the relocated residents, and the architects who lifted each building off the ground, tore out the old foundation, and replaced it with a new one. They even deconstructed a building and rebuilt it, brick by brick. The only mansions that weren't renovated are two rather sparse buildings once home to Zhou Enlai. They remain a museum.
