The Samburu National Reserve is a game reserve on the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro river in Kenya, established 1985 with an area of Area: 165 km². On the other side of the river is the Buffalo Springs National Reserve. The park is 165 km² in size and is situated 350 kilometers from Nairobi. It ranges in altitude from 800 to 1230 m above sea level.
There is a wide variety of animal and bird life seen at Samburu National Reserve. Several large game species common to Kenya's northern plains can be found in abundance here, including the following dry-country fauna: gerenuk, Grevy's zebra, oryx and reticulated giraffe. All three big cats, the lion, cheetah and African leopard can also be found here, as well as the elephant, Cape buffalo and hippopotamus.
Other mammals frequently seen in the park include olive baboon, warthogs, Grant's gazelle, Kirk's dik-dik, impala, and waterbuck. A black rhinoceros population has been re-introduced into the park after an absence of 25 years due to heavy poaching.
There are over 350 species of bird. These include grey-headed kingfisher, sunbirds, bee-eaters, Marabou stork, tawny eagle, Verreaux's eagle, bateleur, vulturine guineafowl, yellow-necked spurfowl, lilac-breasted roller, secretary bird, superb starling, northern red-billed hornbill, yellow-billed hornbill, and various vultures including the palm-nut vulture. The Ewaso Ng'iro river contains large numbers of Nile crocodile basks. Since 2005, the protected area is considered part of a Lion Conservation Unit.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli
After your breakfast, you will be picked by the driver and immediately head to Amboseli. You will arrive just before lunch time. Check in at the lodge, have lunch and relax before an afternoon game drive at 1600hrs. Return later to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli
After your breakfast, you will be picked by the driver and immediately head to Amboseli. You will arrive just before lunch time. Check in at the lodge, have lunch and relax before an afternoon game drive at 1600hrs. Return later to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Amboseli – Lake Naivasha
Leave Amboseli at 6.30 a.m. and depart for Lake Naivasha arriving in time for lunch. Have lunch then you can relax by the lodge or have a boat ride to Crescent Island at an extra fee of $60 per person.
Day 3: Lake Naivasha – Lake Nakuru
Have breakfast and depart for Lake Nakuru. Arrive in Lake Nakuru and have a game drive en route to the lodge for lunch. Have lunch and relax before enjoying an afternoon game drive.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara
After breakfast, you will be picked up and depart for the 8th World wonder “The Masai Mara” passing through the floor of the Great Rift Valley. You will arrive in the Mara by Lunch time. Have a game drive en route to the lodge or camp. Look out for the ‘Big Five’ including lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and rhino. There are also other species including the wildebeest, zebras, giraffe, gazelles and warthogs just to name a few. Have an afternoon game drive.
Day 5: Maasai Mara
On each of the two days, have breakfast and carry lunch boxes for a full day game drive in the vast Maasai Mara. Have a stop-over for picnic lunch before afternoon game drive. You will be drive to the Mara River, a spot to watch the wildebeest migration.
You can also opt for a visit to the Maasai Village on one of the afternoons.
Day 6: Maasai Mara – Nairobi
Have an early morning game drive before breakfast. Return to the lodge for breakfast and depart for Nairobi later arriving in time for lunch at Carnivore Restaurant. Thereafter, be transferred to the airport for your home-bound flight or to a hotel of your choice.

5 Days Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru Camping Safari
DAY 1: NAIROBI/MASAI MARA
We depart Nairobi by safari bus, driving south to the Masai Mara National Park. A picnic lunch will be served on the way followed by a game drive. We are due to arrive at the tented camp in the late afternoon or early evening. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
DAY 2: MASAI MARA
We will be able to take an early morning and late afternoon game drive to explore this famous and unique park. As usual, meals will be served at the camp.
DAY 1: NAIROBI/MASAI MARA
We depart Nairobi by safari bus, driving south to the Masai Mara National Park. A picnic lunch will be served on the way followed by a game drive. We are due to arrive at the tented camp in the late afternoon or early evening. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
DAY 2: MASAI MARA
We will be able to take an early morning and late afternoon game drive to explore this famous and unique park. As usual, meals will be served at the camp.
DAY 3: MASAI MARA
A morning game drive will be available followed in the afternoon by an optional nature walk. All meals will be provided at the camp. You have an opportunity also to take an optional early morning balloon safari.
DAY 4: MASAI MARA/NAKURU
A pre-breakfast game drive will be available with breakfast back at the camp or lodge before our safari bus takes us to Nakuru. On the way a picnic lunch will be served. Lake Nakuru is renowned for its bird life not forgetting its famous flamingos. Over-night will be spent at a simple but clean hotel with hot showers. The hotel will also serve dinner.
DAY 5: NAKURU/NAIROBI
After breakfast at the hotel we will have time for a game drive. Lunch will be served before we leave for Nairobi to arrive mid or late afternoon.

On arrival at Amboseli National Park, we shall set up camp or check into your lodge and then time permitting take a short game drive with very real chance of seeing lions, giraffes and elephants on the very first evening.
To add to the experience, Mount Kilimanjaro will provide a beautiful back-drop. Dinner and accommodation will be provided at Amboseli campsite.

DAY 3: AMBOSELI/NAIROBI
After breakfast we will have time for the game drive before leaving Amboseli National Park for Nairobi. Lunch will be served en-route and we will arrive back at Nairobi in the afternoon.
