Catching the train to next stop in Sri Lanka, the small village of Ella was the most fun we've had in our travels in a long while. It's certainly up there with driving a campervan around parts of Australia, theme parks days, Halong Bay and the bamboo train in Cambodia.

The train takes three hours to go Nanu Oya, just outside Nuwara Eliya to Ella. In actual kilometers it's a pretty short journey but the train has to cross a lot of mountain ranges and descends from 1800m down to 1000m, passing through tea plantations, eucalyptus forests, mountains, villages and more tea plantations. Much of the track snakes it way along the edge of the mountains overlooking huge valleys of firstly tea plantations and small villages, then forests and waterfalls, before crossing to the other side of the range and being greeted with more valleys of tea plantations and small villages.

The scenery was stunning. What makes it even more amazing is the 4 hour journey

Meet and pick you from the Int’l Airport. Drive to Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage to witness a great number of Elephants over 100. Proceed to Kandy and visit the Temple of the Tooth, Gem Museum & Lapidary and also the Royal Botanical Garden. Then an evening Cultural show featuring Sri Lankan dancers.
Night in Kandy
Day 2
Early Drive to Nuwara Eliya and visit Horton Plain. Walk up to the World’s End. Optional visit to Hakgala Botanical Gardens. Evening city tour.

Day 3
Depending on your flight schedule, transfer to Airport.

Day 1
Meet and pick you from the Int’l Airport. Visit Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, and proceed Nuwara Eliya. En-route visits a Tea Factory.

Visit the Horton Plain and walk up to the World’s End. Drive via St. Clair water falls to Kithulgala and experience a level of 4 white water rafting at the Kelani River where the Oscar award winning movie "Bridge on the River Kwai " was filmed. Proceed to Mount Lavinia.
Night in Bentota
Day 3
Colombo City tour. Depending on your flight schedule transfer to Airport.
