“Let's flee to Khajuraho, a purely religious haven, which will send shivers down your spine with its very aphrodisiac appeal. One of the biggest attractions in North India, the city of Khajuraho is rightly termed as 'Symbol of Medieval Heritage'. The city encases the largest group of medieval Hindu and Jain temples, famous for their erotic sculptures that present distinction in artistry and eminence in architectural style.
Welcome to the world of religiosity, culture and eroticism!”
Highlights.
• Explore the world famous Khajuraho temples.
• Visit true exemplars of the unique Indian architectural style.
• A mix of the sensual and the spiritual, the banal with the sublime.
Morning after breakfast pick up from Hotel lobby with local English speaking guide and drive to Temple complex.
And Visit all temples.
The Western group of temples
The temples are divided directionally. The Western group of temples contains the most accomplished of all the Khajuraho temples with 84 shikharas – the Kandariya Mahadeva dedicated to Lord Shiva. It also houses the erotically charged temple of Devi Jagdamba with the sensually carved apsaras and mithunas. With sculptures of daily life and its karma (action or deeds) and artha (worldly status) depicted along with kama (sexual pleasure) explicitly, the temples of Vishvanath and Nandi and the Chaunsat Yogini depict the abandonment of the worldly i.e. the sculptors on the outside of the temple to reach moksha (salvation) which is depicted by the art and sculptors in the sanctum of the temples. A mix of the sensual and the spiritual, the banal with the sublime, the western pantheon is perhaps the most artistic and historically mysterious with its subtle references to Tantric Hinduism in harmony with the complex Vedic beliefs that have persisted through time.
After Visit of Western Group of temples driver and guide will take you Eastern Group of Temples.
The Eastern group of temples houses the largest Jain temple dedicated to Parsvanath. The absence of all sexual motifs in this group highlights the Hindu tradition of withdrawing from the worldly to attain salvation within the self. The temples of Brahma, Hanuman, Javari and Vamana shouldn’t be missed.
Exemplified by the Shantinath temple with its four and a half meter high statue of Adinath, and the temple of Ghantai with its chains of bells and its statues of a Jain Goddess and Garuda, the Hindu asceticism rings spiritually loud as you explore the grand ruins.
After Visit of Eastern Group of temples driver and guide will take you Southern Group of Temples via local Village.
The Southern group of temples are only two in number but no less splendid. Duladevo is a later rendition that was built when the creative fecundity of Khajuraho was at its zenith. It departs from the Khajuraho form slightly as it has wooden structures that add to its grandeur and hearken an age of newer methods of architecture. The sole other temple of Chaturbhuja’s claim to fame is the three meter high statue of Vishnu at its heart.
After Visit of Temples you will be drop at Local market for shipping for one Hour , later drop back at Hotel.
