Mahjong is regarded as a representative of China’s long-standing and profound gambling art. It’s a card game played by four people with a set of 136 pieces based on intricate rules, although there are many regional variations in terms of number of pieces and rules. Because the pieces resemble the building blocks, Chinese people jocularly call this game “erecting the Great Wall”. Like many other gambling games, one needs both tactics and luck to win.
