Dragon Boat Racing
Dragon Boat race is traceable to the Spring and Autumn Period in the area south to the Yangtze River. Legend has it that a loyal minister of Chu Kingdom named Qu Yuan was exiled by the muddle-headed then emperor, which resulted in the downfall of the nation. Qu was so sad that he drowned himself in Miluo River. The local people immediately took a boat in the hope of finding his body, hence the origin of the dragon boat race and the Dragon Boat Festival (Duan Wu) on the fifth day of the fifth Chinese lunar month.
