Ginseng (Ren Shen)

Ginseng refers to several species of a slow-growing primitive plant with fleshy roots. It’s regarded as one of the top-grade Chinese medicinal herbs. Ginseng falls into wild ginseng and cultivated ginseng. The former mainly grows in the mountains in northeast China. It’s an increasingly endangered species and the demand is high, so it’s very expensive. Cultivated ginseng is widely planted throughout China. Chinese ginseng mainly promotes yang energy and helps increase blood supply.
