This important temple in Bali that is located on a dramatic position, some 70 meters above sea level on the Bukit Peninsula overlooking Indian Ocean. This marvelous temple has 11 centuries old history.

The Temple foundation was encouraged by the monk named Mpu Kunturan while Dhang Hyang Dwijendra is responsible for the construction of the temple and he is responsible for the construction of some other temples throughout the island.

One of the most important statues in this temple is Brahmin statue that faces the ocean.

Another interesting fact about the temple is large number of monkeys that live in it and they are prone to stealing attractive objects.

Underneath the temple one can see beautiful caves that lead to one of the most attractive beaches that is famous for numerous surfers that come to enjoy the waves.
