Tour Day 1 : Beijing to Datong

Tour Day 2 : Datong Tour
Datong tour guide will meet you, after breakfast at the hotel.
Today we will first visit the Yungang Grottoes. The Yungang caves hold more than 50,000 statues Buddihist and extend over 1 km from east to west. The Datong Yungang caves are the main attractions in Datong.
Then visit the Datong Temple of Huayan on the west side of the city of Datong, Huayan temple is the largest and best preserved temple of the Liao (916-1125) and Jin (1115-1234) dynasties in China.
After lunch, We will take a look at Datong Nine Dragon Screen, one of the nine dragons noticed three screens in China. The screen tiles was built in 1771 during the reign of Emperor Qianlong. It is 3.5 meters high and about 30 meters long. It consists of 270 tiles parts, with nine dragons playing with pearls with a background of clouds and sea water.
Transferred back to our hotel in Datong designated.
Tour Day 3 : Datong Wutaishan Tour
Datong tour guide will pick up from your hotel in Datong in the morning.
We will visit the Xuankongsi Hanging Temple, 65 km southeast of Datong. The temple hung on the cliff in the west of a hill with more than 50 feet above the ground, hanging monastery.
After lunch, go to the county Yingxian wooden pagoda, the oldest wooden church Buddhist pagoda in existence in China to visit. The pagoda is 67 meters high pagoda wih a 9-story octagonal building. It was buit without using nails.
After Datong visit, we will drive to Wutaishan, one of China’s most ancient Buddhist sites.
Upon arrival Wutaishan, transfer to Wutaishan hotel and check in.
Tour Day 4 : Wutaishan Tour
Whole day tour in Wutaishan Scenic Area. The Wutaishan region is also known for its purity, with clean air. Including the aptly named Clearwater River (Qingshui it), and a piety of Buddhist thought, Wutaishan is one of China’s four sacred Buddhist mountains.
You have the opportunity to visit the Wutaishan temple such as the Pusading, Xiantong Temple, Longquan Temple, Tayuan Temple and South Temple Hill.
Tour Day 5 : Wutaishan To Datong
You will have free morning. After lunch, We will drive you back to your hotel in Datong.
Tour Day 6: Datong – Beijing
After breakfast you will be transferred to Datong Railway Station and take train no.K616(08:33-14:33) for Beijing.
Arrival at Beijing, met and transferred to your hotel in Beijing.

Upon arrival at Datong, you will meet your tour guide and be transferred to visit the Yungang Grottoes.
Yungang Grottoes is a World Culture Site, included in UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage list in 2001. Mainly constructed during 460-525AD, the Yungang Grottoes are the earliest Buddhist carvings in China. Unlike the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang and Kizil Caves in Kuqa, the Yungang Grottoes feature stone carvings other than murals and terracotta sculptures. The Yungang Grottoes boasts 53 caves with over 51000 stone carvings related to Buddhism. Here you will be able to admire the brilliant art of architecture and Buddhism.
Move on to visit the Huayan Temple.
Huayan Temple is the largest and best preserved of the Liao Dynasty (907-1125), and considered as a museum for the art of the Liao Dynasty. The Huayan Temple is divided into two complexes, one of which is an active temple called as the upper temple, the other being a museum named as the lower temple.
Then continue to enjoy the Nine Dragon Wall.
Built during the regime of the first Emperor of Ming Dynasty, the Nine Dragon Wall is the oldest and largest glazed screen in China with a history of about 600 years. It was originally used as a spirit wall to inhibit the evil spirits. The wall depict nine sinuous dragons with 426 glazed tiles fired specially in five different colors.

Day 2: Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, Hanging Temple, Datong-Wutaishan
Be picked up from the hotel lobby by your tour guide at 9:00am.
Then drive to visit theYingxian Wooden Pagoda.
Built in 1056, the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda is the oldest wooden buildings in the world with a history of over 1000 years. The nine-storey wooden pagoda that was built without a single nail stands 67 meters high and survived seven major earthquakes.
Afterwards, continue to visit the Hanging Temple.
Built precariously into the side of a cliff and facing a deep valley, the Hanging Temple is a famous scenic spot in Mt. Hengshan with a history of over 1000 years. There is one more special thing about the temple. It is the only temple that enshrines Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. The temple owns around 40 halls, housing 80 sculptures made of copper, iron, terracotta and stone. This is also a place for great photos.
After the visit, our tour guide and driver will escort you to the Wutaishan.

Day 3: Mt. Wutai, Mt. Wutai-Taiyuan
After checking out, you will start today's tour to Mt. Wutai.
Wutaishan is a popular site for people who are interested in Chinese Buddhism. The mountain is Buddhism's sacred northern range and the earthly dwelling place of the Bodhisattva of Wisdom. Wutaishan has been a place of pilgrimage and study. It's said that there were 360 temples built here in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and 47 of them survived till now.
The Wutaishan was named due to its topography. It consists of five main peaks located in China's five cardinal directions (north, east, south, west and centre). And enclosed within a valley formed by these five peaks is the town of Taihuai, where some 15 temples located.
You will at least half of the day to explore the Mt. Wutai Scenic Area.
Be transferred back to your hotel at Taiyuan for a good rest. (Breakfast, Lunch)
Day 4: Jinci Temple, Taiyuan-Pingyao
Pick you up from the hotel lobby by your tour guide around 9:00am.
Then transfer to the Jinci Temple.
Jinci Temple is a great start place for people who are interested in Shanxi's impressive collection of ancient buildings. Founded during the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-535) and expanded for several times afterwards, the temple has been famous for its collection of more than 100 sculptures, frescos, carvings and etc. The main building at Jinci is the Hall of the Holy Mother, constructed in 1032, with eight wooden dragons coiling around the first row of pillars. Besides, the temple boast a garden with an old cypress with a history of over 3000 years.
Then drive around 1.5 hours to reach Pingyao.
The tour begins with the exploration within the Pingyao Ancient Town.
Pingyao Ancient Town is one of the best-preserved ancient walled city in China. It was the financial center during the Ming Dynasty and center of trade between south of China to Mongolia. And the trade was so thriving by the Qing Dynasty that the country's first banks and cheques were created to facilitate the transfer of enormous amounts of silver.
Wander through the cobbled streets, you will easily come across the ancient government offices, residences and temple.
You will be guided by your tour guide to explore the city walls of Ming Dynasty, the Rishengchang Exchange Shop and the notable Ming Qing Street.
Day 5: Qiao Courtyard, Pingyao-Taiyuan, Departure
After breakfast, depart from hotel for Taiyuan.
On the way to Taiyuan, you will pay a visit to the Qiao Courtyard.
Located 20km north of Pingyao, Qiao Courtyard is the place where the movie 'Raise the Red Lantern' was filmed by the Zhang Yimou. Built in the Qing Dynasty and expanded into a grand complex by the period of the Republic of China, the Qiao Courtyard occupies an area of 10,642 square meters with six courtyards and more than 300 rooms.
After the visit, you will be transferred to railway station or airport of Taiyuan for departure. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Half day tour to Mount Wutai, one of the four holy mountains for Buddhists in China, you will tour the Xiantong Temple, Pusading Temple and Tayuan Temple. After lunch, drive 4 hours to Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi Province.
Day 05 Taiyuan - Pingyao (B, L)
After breakfast, transfer to visit Jinci Temple, which was founded about 1,400 years ago, boasting a diverse collection of more than 100 sculptures, buildings, terraces, and bridges. Then proceed to Pingyao, you will visit Qiao Family Compound and Double Forest Temple before checking into the hotel.
Day 06 Pingyao (B, L)
Explore the old town of Pingyao escorted by your guide, including the visits to the city wall, Rishengchang Draft Bank and Ming and Qing Street. Free time at the rest of the day.
Day 07 Pingyao – Taiyuan departure (B)
Drive to Taiyuan, and board the flight or train to your next destination.
