Niujie (Ox Street)

Pick up from your hotel around 9:00am. First visit Tiananmen Square, the largest public square of this kind in the world. Then move on to Forbidden City which was once home to the emperors for over 500 years in the Ming and Qing dynasties.

After Muslim lunch, visit Niujie, or Ox Street Mosque. The mosque is a blend of Islamic and Chinese cultures. Its exterior shows the Chinese influence while the interior decoration is full of Islamic flavour. It was first built in 996 during the Song Dynasty (960-1279). Later in 1442,the mosque was rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty and expanded in 1696 under the Qing Dynasty.

After visiting the mosque, move on to Temple of Heaven, where dynastic rulers in China used to worship the heaven. After the tour, returned to your hotel in Beijing.

Niujie (Ox Street) inhabited by 23 ethnic minorities (mainly muslims) and Han Chinese, all people live together in peace.  A visit to Ox street (Niu Jie) today is a vivid reminder of Beijing’s flourishing Muslim community and a true life of ordinary Chinese .

1. Visitting a snack street, learn and try Muslim and Han Chinese food, everything is clean,well prepared and yummy, come with a empty stomach and an open mind.
2. Visitting a small local supper market, check out the daily used articles for locals who live in this area.
3. Seeing  the Great Mosque, which was built thousand years ago, and it's the spiritual centre for the 13,000 Muslims living in the vicinity, is the biggest and oldest in Beijing.
4. Walking along the streets, see several markets and shops offer Muslim services and goods.
5. Visitting the olddest buddhism temple in town, Fayuansi. The place is so remote and tranquil, the door keeper is a 70 years old "Daye" (Uncle), wearing bule color's Mao suit, he is very friendly, and like to share stories about his life with visitors. 
6. Ending up the tour at the square in front of Fayuan Temple, Where many locals are relaxing.
