The Ming Tombs

At around 08:30 am, your English-speaking guide will pick you up from your hotel in Beijing to start the tour to The Ming tombs.

Ming Tombs are 13 royal mausoleum of Emperor Mausoleum in general.They  are located in Changping District, about 50 kilometers to the northwest of Beijing. 

First you will visit the Sacred Way.A Sacred Way is always found in an imperial cemetery. It was built for Chang Ling, Emperor Zhu Di’s tomb, but since the other 12 tombs were also built in this area, the Sacred Way became the main road for all the thirteen tombs. Although they were from one group, each tomb is independent. Your knowledgeable guide will accompany with you to walk along the road and give insight view of the meaning of each stone statues .The stone statues along the Sacred Way are important decorations of the mausoleum that form a guard of honor. These statues are usually 12 human figures (including the general, civil officials and meritorious officials) and 24 animals.

Then meet your driver again and heading to the Dingling Tomb.

Dingling is the tomb of Emperor Zhu Yijun,  the longest ruling period of all the 16 Ming emperors. The construction started when he was only 22, and it took 6 years to finish. It was completed in 1590. After he died, he was buried in Dingling with his two empresses. Your guide will give a detailed stories about the Ming dynasties history and tell the life story of the owner of this tomb.You will be amazed by the complicated burial culture in the Ming Dynasty 

Continue to the Changling Tomb.Changling is the tomb of emperor Yongle (reigned 1403-1424), the third emperor of the Ming Dynasty whose personal name was Zhu Di,It  is the largest and best-preserved of the Ming Tombs and is divided into three stunning courtyards.Most striking is Ling'En Dian, an immense hall in which the interior columns and brackets have been left unpainted, creating an eye-catching contrast with the green ceiling panels.

After this you will have a lunch in the local restaurant in Changping town, then heading back to your hotel in Beijing City.

After the journey from downtown Beijing your visit starts at the Ming Tombs – the imperial burial grounds of the Ming dynasty Emperors where you will explore the Changling Tomb, the largest and best preserved of the 13 tombs. On the way to Badaling you will stop for lunch at the Jade Gallery, where you will also learn about the 5000-year culture of Chinese Jade. Then it is on to the highlight of the day, the Badaling section of the Great Wall – a monumental feat of engineering by the ancient Chinese, the Great Wall stretched for a total of 6700 km when it was at its zenith. Here, you will see the best preserved section of this Wonder of the Ancient World. On your return journey the last stop will be to enjoy a traditional tea ceremony. A great way to relax after these awesome experiences.

1. The guide will pick you up from your hotel around 8:30am and then head to Juyongguan Great Wall。 Juyongguan Great Wall section is the closest one to the city, It is described as a guardian, which means one solider stand there ,ten thousand enemies can not go through. It is good if you like walking.

2.Have a traditional Chinese lunch (recommend)
3.we will visit the Mingtombs. The emperors from Ming dynasty buried here after they died,  Changling is the biggest tomb among Ming dynasty Tombs, where Emperor Yongle（the first of all emperors in Beijing）and his Empress Xu were buried.

Pick up from your hotel around 8:00am. Transfer to Juyongguan great wall by car(approximate travelling time:2hours).In 220 B.C., under Qin Shihuang, the first emperor of China, sections of earlier fortifications were joined together to form a united defense system against invasions from the north. Construction of the great wall continued up to the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), when the Great Wall became the world's largest military structure. Its historic and strategic importance is matched only by its architectural significance.

The lunch at local Halal restaurant,after lunch transfer to the Ming Tombs. Constructed for the 13 emperors of the Ming Dynasty, the Ming tombs follow the precepts of traditional Chinese geomancy and fengshui theory. They feature rich decoration of stone statues and carvings and tiles with dragon motifs, illustrating the development of the funerary architecture of the Ming Dynasty. The Ming Tombs are dazzling illustrations of the beliefs, world view, and geomantic theories of Fengshui prevalent in feudal China. They have served as burial edifices for illustrious personages and as the theatre for major events that have marked the history of China. It's a busy tour day, but will also include a visit to Jade Carving Factory for a shopping experience not to be missed. Return to your hotel.
