Moon Hill

I deeply believe that there is a part of region in Yangshuo is for you to cycle:  Bumpy or flat, quiet or a little bit lively, these are for you to choose from.

But no matter which one you choose, I’m sure that all of them will be accompanied with a splendid, gorgeous view of the beautiful landscape. It’s such an easy way for you to do both exercising and travelling. And I also think there’s definitely one thing here for you to do – to slow down, relax, enjoy life, and escape the craziness of the city life. Cycling is a great way to  experience the local life of rice planting, rice harvesting, peanut harvesting, and so on. Local people in this area are very enthusiastic, kind, and friendly. Also, be sure not to miss going to a local farmer’s home to try real local Chinese style food they’ll cook for you.

We have 3 common routs for the bike ride. one is to Dragong Bridge and back through the countryside. Another one is to Moon Hill, last one is to Liugong Village. For any of these three, we will make it deep to the local’s life and also a fabulous scenerary
In a sunny day or a rainy day, each of has a different feeling. Well, if you want to ask me what the feeling is like, I can only say that you better come and join us to feel it for yourself in person.

This is my personal favorite route and I often take my kid with me. We ride 15 minutes from Yangshuo to YuLong river valley. Then we find a narrow bridge and cross to the other side - away from noise and trucks. 

The road is totally peaceful and safe. We soon leave asphalt behind and step on soft soil. We head to the nearest village, passing fishing pools and Pomelo trees. 

We stop at the village corner shop for ice cream break and explore local architecture. Houses built with mud bricks over half century ago, some of them even with balcony. 

We ride down the hill to another old village squeezed between the river and karst hills. We ride a really narrow street carefully but don't forget to look around. Many surprises awaits us along this road.

The part of the road behind the village is a bit difficult to ride, so we will walk our bicycles. As a reward for our hard work we will have a break in the huge natural cave. Locals built a table inside and we can enjoy drinks sitting properly in this cool cave.

From the cave we ride along the open fields for 15 minutes. We will pass local school, cross another river and then head to Moon Hill.  The restaurant at the foot of the hill has rich menu and we will have lunch. 

We take our time to enjoy every stop on the route.

After the long lunch break we head back to Yangshuo. But we won't ride main road, no we not like that. We will take the back road cutting through villages. 

So here we are back to our hotel room. Oh, aircon....

Our tour guide will meet you at your hotel in the morning, and grab a bike, hitting the road through country road to Yulong River. You will get to see some old villages and rice fields on the way to the Yulong River. 

The starting point of Bamboo Rafting is Chaoyang Wharf, from the wharf you can get a real bamboo raft, and this kind of rafts carry up to 2 people in one raft and powered by manual force. Our guide will have the bikes transported to the place where you get off the rafts and wait for you there. This bamboo raft tour takes from 1.5 hours to 2 hours depends on the season.

After the bamboo rafting, you can get on the bike again and keep cycling to the nearby attraction Big Banyan Tree Park and Moon Hill Park. There's nice restaurant at the foot of Moon Hill and maybe you want to have lunch there. Paying a visit to the Water Cave after lunch. In the evening, watching the Impression Sanjie Liu (Light Show) really hits the spot.
