Cockfighting "Sabong"

In many Asian countries, as well as Latin America, Cocks are very common. These were roosters specially bred bird, conditioned to fight much like professional athletes. Wagers are often made on the outcome of the match. In the Philippine, cockfighting is a very popular way of gambling during week-ends and festivities.We call that Sabong. The place were the fight happen is called cockpit. Roosters are wearing sharp blades or razor fixed on their legs to smash the opponents. The end of the fight is when one of the cocks is dead or in bloods and cant fight anymore. In history, they said that Magellan had witnessed cockfighting during his voyage in 1521 in the kingdom of Taytay. Presidential Decree 1140 had created a cockfighting law already. I may say that it is being legalized thought it is such cruelty to animal but it has became part of the Filipino culture and banning for that woulf be impossible for the reason that most filipinos or sabungeros nationwide does not just enjoy gambling but they do enjoy the superiority on the said match.
