Itinerary：

we will greet you at your hotel lobby and we then do a short drive to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding – be sure to fully charge you devices, they are what we call film/battery killer!It’s a beautiful park where we will the giant pandas, red pandas and if we are lucky we could even see the baby pandas in the Panda Nursery. Come here early we will more likely to see pandas in their breakfast time and play time!

After spend morning time at Panda Centre, we will drive for 2.5 hours to one of the World Heritage sites – Leshan Giant BudhhaJoin us to find out the philosophy of Buddhism and stories behind. There are also amazing architectures such as heritage and local life for you to explore with expert locals.

The Buddha is located to the east of Leshan City, Sichuan Province, at the confluence of three rivers, namely, Min River, Qingyi River, and Dadu River. It is carved into the cliffs of Mt. Lingyun. A local saying describes the Buddha like this: “The Mountain unveils a Buddha, while the Buddha fades into the mountain.”

Looking solemn and stately, the Buddha is 71 meters high. His shoulders are 28 meters wide, head 14.7 meters long and 10 meters broad, with a total of 1,021 chignons of hair clustered on it. Each chignon is as big as a roundtable. Its drooping ear is 6.2 meters long and each eye is 3.3 meters wide. Its middle finger is 8.3 meters long, and each of its bare feet is 11 meters long and 8.5 meters wide, large enough for more than 100 people to sit on.
As a colossal statue, the Buddha is so awe-inspiring that every pious Buddhist feels compelled to fall to his knees and to pray for blessings and safety in life.

Itinerary

After greeting at your hotel a 2.5 hours drive takes us to Giant Buddha. We would take the boat trip to have an unforgettable panoramic view of Buddha.

After visiting Buddha a 40 mins drive takes us to a laid-back old town. Take a walk around the town where traditional lifestyles still survived from the modernization. Along the way, we visit traditional workshops such as blacksmith’s shop, bamboo workshop, barber shop etc. Enjoy tea and chat and share stories with lovely local people in an old teahouse and later drop in one of the hundred-year-old courtyard houses where it’s owner are so proud of and love to share stories of the house.

a short drive takes us up to the mountain. The tea farmer will take us to the tea field, where we will learn a lot about tea from how to pick-up the best tea sprouts or tea buds, to weather conditions and different regions for Tea. Have a try of picking tea from the tea trees! Afterward visiting the tea business family to reveal the process of making all kinds of tea, let’s sit down in front of the farmhouse and enjoy tea – more stories sharing and learning of tea, as in of wine there are Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir in tea as well! We still have a great chance to try local specialty as wood-fire cooked lunch in the countryside.

Mt. Emei is home to the first Buddhist temple in China, built in the first century. But the most remarkable of the Emeishan Buddhas is the Leshan Great Buddha that was carved out of a hillside in the eighth century. The statue stands about 71 meters (233 feet) high and has three-meter (11 feet) long fingers on each of its enormous resting hands. The Giant Buddha ended up making the raging rivers below more navigable as stone remnants from the statue were dropped into the water.

Sichuan offers you a chance to see different cultures and sceneries in a single trip. All these classic destinations and wild destinations are not very far away from each so you can travel at a very leisure pace. You will visit the World Heritage Sites of Leshan Giant Bhuda, Mount Emei and Dujiangyan Irrigation System, also enjoy beautiful Tagong Grassland, featured Tibetan Village of Danba and alpine snow mountains and wild forests and valleys in Mount Siguniang.

Chengdu-Leshan Giant Buddha-Yaan Bifengxia-Yibin Bamboo Sea loop 6-day tour

Day 1: Chengdu panda base. Afternoon drive to Ya’an

8:30 am pick up from your hotel. Drive about 40 minutes to Chengdu panda base.

Chengdu panda Base was created on behalf of six sick and hungry giant pandas that were rescued in the 1980s. It has never captured any wild giant pandas, but has bred 172 fetuses and 261 giant pandas, and the number of existing giant pandas has hit 176 (as of Jan.25, 2017) due to technological innovation. These captive giant pandas are the largest artificial breeding population in the world, who are of exceptional genetic quality and positive individual and behavioral health conditions. 

There are also red pandas to see.

After lunch drive about 2.5h to Ya’an city. Night stay in Ya’an

Day 2: Ya’an Bifengxia  + Shangli Ancient town

Morning drive 40 minutes to Bifengxia. Here you can visit the panda base. Or the wild zoo. Here you can feed tigers, lions and bears in the bus from the window. You can also hike in the gorges with waterfalls and lakes .

Afternoon visit Shangli Ancient town

Shangli Ancient town is  picturesque where you will see many art students are sketching. With valleys and bridges , very beautiful and relaxing.

Day 3: Liujiang Ancient town+Leshan Giant Buddha

Drive to Leshan Giant Buddha passing by Liujiang Ancient town, have a stop here.

Leshan Giant Buddha :

located on the convergence of the three rivers: Qingyi River, Dadu River and Min River . Leshan Giant Buddha is 71meters high, the biggest sitting buddha in the world. Leshan Giant Buddha is carved on Lingyun Mountain , built in Tang Dynasty ( A.D 713-A.D 803) 

then drive 50 minutes to the foot of Emei Mountain.

Day 4: Emeishan

Mt.Emei is one of the four famous Buddhist Mountains in China, the other three are Mt.Putuo in Zhejiang; Mt.Wutai in Shanxi, Mt.Jiuhua in Anhui. Each mountain is delicated to different Bodhisattvas. Bodhisattva is a potential Buddha, and referred as Pusa in Chinese. Each pusa has his own ritual place to salvae suffering creatures. Mt.Emei is the holy place for Puxian pusa. The highest peak of Emei mountain is the Qianfo Summit( 3099m) the Golden Summit is the second peak (3077m). the two peaks stand facing each other.
