Bahay Kubo (Nipa House)

BahayKubo is a traditional tropical dwelling of Filipinos. Coming from two words: bahay- house and cubo- hut. Its roof is made from coconut or nipa leaves while the body or the walls are made of bamboos and woods. It stands on stilts to protect the dwellers from wild animals. Bahay Kubo is still very much present nowadays in the provinces. In the movie "Finding Nemo", Nemo was depicted inside a bahaykubo hiding.
