Qing Yang Gong Temple (Green Goat Palace) is the oldest and largest Taoist temple in the Southwest of China. It is situated in the western portion of Chengdu City. Originally built in the early Tang Dynasty (618-907), this temple has been rebuilt and repaired many times. The existing buildings were mostly built during The Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).According to legend, Qing Yang Gong was said to be the birth place of the founder of Taoism, Lao Tsu, and is where he made the first sermon about Taoism. Ever since Taoism was established, this temple was said to be holy place for immortals to get together.
