The city of Jaffna is situated in a peninsula and in the northern province of the country of Srilanka,distance is nearly 500 km from Colombo.

Jaffna is the most unfortunate city of the country as it suffered by the war of 'tamil tigers' for about 30 years.before 1975 this beautiful city had a huge economy and the land was a agricultural asset of the country.but in 1975 everything changed and some tamil groups tried to separate the country,the war was continued till 2009 till the government's troops could reunited the country.

but the war destroyed many values and the Government of Srilanka is trying the best to recover the damage.in last 05 years many roads were built including the main A 9 road.the Jaffna city is awakening with new buildings and new facilities.the government of Netherlands is funding to rehabilitate the old Dutch fort.

not much good hotels still but couple of three stars hotels available in Jaffna.
