Langshan Mountain is one of China's National Geological Parks, famous for its unique Danxia landform-literally means "Crimson Glow", which is a rare topographic feature in the world. Huge rocks of dark red color of grotesque shapes present tourists a marvelous sight. It is located in Xinning County, about 500km away from Changsha, capital of Hunan province. In the south Langshan Mountain is connected with Guilin, in the north it echoes Zhangjiajie. Covering an area of 108 square kilometers, Langshan Mountain has rich natural scenery and abundant tourism resources. There are more than 500 scenic spots in Langshan Mountain. Among which the most famous are Tianyi Lane, Chili Peak, Zixia Cave, Fuyi River, Innate Bridge, Octagonal Castle, Emperor Xun Forest Park and Xicun Ancient Dwelling.  

In 2008, Langshan Mountain was nominated as World Nature Heritage. In august, 2009, some experts of World Nature Heritage came here for site inspection, and the mountain is expected to be a World Nature Heritage in next July. If this comes true, Langshan Mountain will be the second World Nature Heritage in Hunan after Wulingyuan in Zhangjiajie. 

The name of Langshan comes from an ancient legend. It is said that when Shun, the name of a legendary monarch in ancient China, passed by the mountain, he found the mountains and rivers here were so wonderful, so he entitled the mountain with a Chinese character ―Lang‖, meaning good mountains,
Langshan Danxia landform and the evolution of its climate and creatures are representatives of the Earth evolution history in Southeast Asia since the Cretaceous, and also represent the crust evolution process and the ancient environment change of southeast China in 100 million years. So, it is supposed to be the excellent example of the main stage of geo-evolution history.

Langshan Mountain is the ideal location for evergreen broadleaf forest in subtropics moist region, where mainly dominated by ―isolated island of ecology" phenomena and narrow habitat. It is a region that has integrated phases of Danxia plant community; it is a distinctive habitat region that to record the cooperated evolution relationship between angiosperm and animals; it is a terrific model and experimental field that to make comprehensive study on biologic diversity. 

There are ―six wonders‖–the most famous scenery spots-in Langshan Mountain. The first wonder is Tianyi Lane, whose original name is Ox Nose Castle. Because there is a lot of Ox nose shaped stone holes in the crag. But the innate stone lane is the main feature of this scenic spot. It represents the classic characteristics of Danxia landform. So in year 2004, changed name to Tianyi Lane. Tianyi Lane is a marvelous lane in the world which only the God has power to create. The lane is 238.8 meters in length, and stone in two sides is more than 120 meters in height. The widest of lane is just 0.8 meters while the narrowest is 0.33 meters. When you walk along the lane you must shudder because everywhere is dark and the chilliness is coming upon you. But when there is sunshine gleaming on the stone wall, the marvelous and colorful ray panorama can be seen above. You have to marvel at nature's masterpiece.

The second is Octagonal Castle, which is called the soul of Langshan Mountain. It is famous for its fantastic and mysterious scenery. The best time to visit Octagonal Castle is when there is light mist. The mist braces the peaks below, which seems the whales paddling in the ocean. The mist rises slowly from below and kisses you, and it seems you are in fairyland and forget you are a human being. The highest peak of Octagonal Castle is more than 818 meters high. It erects directly without any peaks around. The strangest is that there is a clean spring on top of this peak! You must wonder at nature's masterpieces!
The third is General Rock, which stands 75 meters high, showing a majestic-looking.

The fourth is Camel peak. It consists of four stone summits. Each stone represents camel's head, body, ridge and tail respectively. Seeing far away, it is like a huge camel galloping in the wild field. On the side of camel peak there stands Candle Peak. It was said the candle lights the way for the camel during the night.
The fifth is the Innate Bridge, which is called the first bridge in the Asia. The bridge is 64 meters long, 14 meters wide and 20 meters high. Its magnificent arc shape likes a rainbow over the sky.

The last wonder is Chilli Peak Scenic Spot. It is the most marvelous peak in Langshan Mountain. It is 180 meters in height, the top is big and the bottom is small. Its shape is exactly like a mature Chilli soaring among hills. In 2002, the Spiderman Alain Robert successfully challenged the Chilli Peak.

While traveling to Zhangjiajie, in addition to enjoy the beautiful scenery, trying local delicacies in Zhangjiajie is another pleasant things to do. Here I would like to recommend some must-go restaurants in Zhangjiajie.

Le Kou Fu Restaurant

It is classic restaurant offering Hunan cuisine. Dishes in Le Kou Fu Restaurant taste good, and the price is quite reasonable. Taro spareribs, fish head with pepper sauce, sauce meat, and chicken hot pot with fungus mushroom are highly recommended.

Xiang Li Ren Jia Restaurant is one of the best dinning places in Zhangjiajie. Fish dishes here are the best. Tofu taste good too. It is composed of a large hall and many balconies which can entertain 500 guests at one time. Of course this restaurant cooks local dishes. But, it as well provides food of every where of China

Tang Shifu’s Tujia Outlets

Tang Master’s Tujia Outlets is near to Tianzi Mountain Hotel. It is an old restaurant in Wulingyuan. The dishes here taste great with affordable price. Fish in Sour Soup is the signature dish in this place.

Lao Yuan Zi Restaurant

Add: Yongding Ave., Yongding District, Zhangjiajie

Lao Yuan Zi Restaurant is a famous old restaurant in the city. The building of it was built in Qing dynasty. It integrates Tujia condole watchtower with garden architecture. It is known as the most well preserved ancient Tujia villa. So dinner would have a great dinning experience in this place. Deep-fried vegetable is special food here.

Liuye Lake is Located in the northeastern urban area of Changde, Hunan Province, Liuye Lake is bounded by the Taiyang Mountain on the north and facing the Yuan River on the south. With a history of more than two thousand years,Hunan Changde or Wuling has been granted as the Hometown of Historical Relics for a long time.

In recent years, in order to promote Chinese traditional culture and strengthen patriotism education, the government has invested 108 million RMB to build a 2.92km long anti-flood wall with engraved poems, which is named as the Changde Poem-engraved Wall.With famous contemporary poetries,calligraphy,and paintings gathered together, it is the longest poem-engraved wall in Guinness Book of World Records.

Hunan Bamboo Scripts Museum is located in the middle of Tianxin Pavilion and Baisha Ancient Well. Its design is Han dynasty style and take examples by high-platform building prevailed in three kingdoms period.

Changsha comes up out of the ground the most quantity of bamboo slips in China. In 1996, more than 1700 Sunwu annals’ (Three kingdoms period) bamboo slips were come up in Zouma tower of Changsha City. That amount exceeded the overall amounts of bamboo scripts came up in China over the years. The name Mount Yuelu is related to a famous line from the book" Story of Nanyue" written by Liu Song of the Southern and Northern Dynasties (420AD-589AD). The line reads eight hundred square meters around Nanyue, the head is Huiyan and the foot is Yuelu. And the mountain was ever since called Mount Yuelu. 

As an extended part of the mysterious Mount Hengshan range, Mount Yuelu covers a total area of 8 square kilometers with its highest peak 297 meters above sea level. There are also many peaks with exuberant trees and reclusive and precipitous mountain streams.

Except for the beautiful natural sceneries, Mount Yuelu is also dotted with lots of famous places and ancient relics since Western Han Dynasty(206BC-25AD), such as Aiwan Pavilion, Lushan Temple, Wangxiang Pavilion, Lushan Temple Stele of Liyong (678AD-747AD) in Tang Dynasty, and the Monument to Emperor Yu carved in Song Dynasty, etc. Among the evergreen pines and cypresses also lie Huangxing's Tomb which is under state protection, and the Tombs of Cai E and Chen Tianhua, who were both outstanding revolutionists.

Aiwan Pavilion
As one of the four well-known pavilions in China, Aiwan pavilion is a pavilion of ancient style built in the Qing Dynasty. It is square in form with gilt columns and painted red inside. There are four external beams made with complete stripes of granite. It is constructed with double eaves on top with four slopes. And a spiking treasure bottle is fitted atop. Its four corners stretch away upward, covered with greenish glazed tiles.

The original name of Aiwan Pavilion was Hongye Pavilion and the present name is derived from the poem Strolling in the Mountain written by Du Mu (a poet of Tang Dynasty).

Aiwan Pavilion is not only a famous scenic spot, but also an important site of treasured memories of the revolutionaries like Mao Zedong, Cai Hesen, and Luo Xuezan.

Lushan Temple
The Lushan Temple, also known as Luyuan or Huiguang Temple, built by the monk master Fachong of Zan religion during the Jin Dynasty (265AD-420AD), has a long history of more than 1700 years. The temple was first built in the second year of Renshou during the reign of Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty (581AD-618AD) as he gave an imperial edict that a pagoda for Buddhist relics be built. During the 18th year of Kaiyuan under the reign of Emperor Tang Xuanzong, the well-known writer and calligrapher Li Yong wrote "Lushan Temple" for the stele, known as San Jue Bei, a stele perfect in such three aspects as literary talent, calligraphy and engraving.

Originally, it had a main hall and a rear hall, however, nowadays only the rear hall remains there. The arch gate of the temple is built in the local architectural style and upon it there is a sign bearing the legend "Ancient Lushan Temple".It is roofed with yellowish tiles and supported by red columns.

The Lushan Temple Stele, a black stone with a round top, is a well-known stele of ancient China. Four Chinese characters of "Lu Shan Si Bei"(Lushan Temple Stele) were inscribed on it and the inscription on it contains 1419 Chinese characters which recorded the origins and the development of Buddhist doctrine preaching activities through the period between the establishment of the temple in the Jin Dynasty (265AD-420AD) and the setup of the stele in the Tang Dynasty (618AD-907AD).
