Mai Châu is a rural district of Hoa Binh province in the northwestern region of Vietnam. The district is located at about 160 km from Ha Noi. The scenery of Mai Chau attracts many tourists. The Mai Chau area is well known for its stilt houses. The type of stilt houses, or pile dwellings, they construct are called Thai stilt houses and are made of bamboo and timber. These houses are elevated 10-12 feet off the ground in order to avoid water damage and shelter animals from the elements.

11:30-12:00 - Scenic photo stop of Mai Chau valley/arrive in Mai Chau

12:30 - Traditional lunch in local village (vegetarian available)

13:00-15:00 - Bicycle ride with local tour guide, see farmers working in fields, locals weaving scarves and visit surrounding peaceful villages. Leave Mai Chau

18:30-19:00 - Drop you off at your hotel, and end of your trip.

Mai Chau is located in Hoa Binh province, 160km west of Hanoi. Three hours drive will take you there, a peaceful place with stunning scenery. Mai Chau valley is surrounded by evergreen mountains. From the top of Mai Chau Pass, one can see spectacular panorama of Mai Chau Valley with a little town and peaceful hill tribe villages lie along rice paddies and bamboo forests. This is the place for visitors to escape the noise and pollution of city. Visiting there, you will have a chance to mingle yourself into the nature and experience typical daily lifestyle of local people. Mai Chau is home of some minority groups of which Thai people occupy the majority.
Highlight activities for day trip here are gentle cycling or trekking around to visit the villages and farms

IN THE MORNING
The tour departs from Hanoi at 07:30 AM. The morning drive takes about 3.5 hours overland to Mai Chau valley, a stunning valley of White Thai ethnic minority in Hoa Binh province. You will have some stops on the way for taking photographs. Arrive at Lac Village around noon; this is a peaceful and pretty hilly area. Have Vietnamese lunch at a Thai family's stilt house.

IN THE AFTERNOON
After lunch and rest, go for a soft trek about 2, 5 hours to explore the surroundings and visit some villages, rice paddies and gardens. Or you can choose to discover the area by bicycles. This is the best time for you to experience the local life, their agriculture and beautiful handicrafts.
Back to the family for refreshing before getting on your bus and return to Hanoi. Arrive in Hanoi about 6:00 PM. End of service.
