Xizhou town is Located at the northern end of the Dali,  32 kilometers from the downtown of Xiaguang.  it is the home of the famous movie" five golden flowers ", It is also a famous historical and cultural town in yunnan province with a total population of 63275 people, 85% of them are Bai people. the town is on the  foot of cangshan mountain,  the forest area size is about 12480 acres, including Chinese fir trees and other varieties.   in  the gentle slope of cangshan moutain ,the climate is suitable for growing different  kinds of tea. 

Xizhou is famous both in culture and architecture, It has a long history of  the handicraft is and commodity trade.  xizhou town was the center of Politic,  economy, culture of Bai people in the ancient time,It is the cradle of Bai commercial and industrial development. early in Qing dynasty of Guangxu years(AD1875-AD1908), "xizhou business group" was formed, so Xizhou was one of the birthplace of Bai people's national capitalism.     there are many national, provincial, municipal cultural relics protection units. the local-style dwelling houses building is unique, and xizhou town has  very unique architecture construction:   a large number ancient architecture of Ming and qing dynasty and  the republic of China .  all of them has  a very high historical and cultural value which has been published by the state council as the national key cultural relics protection units,  it attracts many tourists at home and abroad.  

So if tourists want to know more about Bai people and their culture, they have to start with the understanding of Xizhou town.

Weibaoshan  mountain national forest park  is 11km southeast WeiShan county ,  total size 19 square kilometers, the main peak  is 2569 meters above sea level.

Weibaoshan mountain was listed as national forest park in 1992.  since the tang dynasty Taoist temple architecture was firstly built in Tang dynasty, more taoist temple was built in Ming and  Qing dynasty.   it is known as the fmous Taoist mountains of Yunnan province,  one of the four famous Taosim mountains in China.

The mountain worshipping festival is 2ed to 15th of Feb in chinese lunar calendor,  people of all nationaliites in the countryside is wearing their new costumes,  participate in the festival with a joyful mood.  The lunar February 13 to 14, it is annual  singing festival  also known as the carnival of  young men and women of Yi minority.

 Shi Bao Shan is famous for its buddist temple and grottoes. It is 100km south west of Lijiang. 130km from Dali old town. Just 20 km from Shaxi old town. The grottoes reflect religious and culture of Nanzhao kingdom. There are cluster of buddist temple build along cliff rock.  

Nuodeng is an ancient village which has been known as the town of salt, in Yunnan Province, from about 1400s. It used to be one of the most important economical town in the area.  Being hidden in the Mountains in Dali for centuries, now it attracts peopl's eyes again, bcus of its charming primitive ancient village, the amazing natural scenery around, and the famous Nuodeng Ham. From Dali to Nuodeng village, it is about 176 kms, about 3.5 hrs to drive.

The Ximatan(Horse-bathing) Pond on Cangshan Mountain

Cangshan is not a single mountain but a range of mountains, stretching for 40 kilometers. There are all in total 19 peaks constitute Cangshan Mountain. There are three ways to explore Cangshang Mountain:

1. Gantong Ropeway, which will take you to halfway up the mountain. 

2.  Ximatan Ropeway, also known as "Big Ropeway". This ropeway is relatively new and expansive, but totally worth it. One-way ropeway takes 50 minutes during which you can see the drastic changes of the plantation. The highest elevation you can reach is 3920 meters, where the Ximatan Pond is located. The temperature drops so greatly on the mountain top that we can even enjoy snow scenery there. Strongly recommended!
