The Yangzhou Museum is big. Any visitor to Yangzhou quickly finds out the city is proud of its history, but you don’t really get a feel for its age until you visit this newly constructed museum. There are extensive displays here of artifacts, crafts, models and so on from Yangzhou’s pre-history to the Qing Dynasty, with plenty about the future as well.
Nearly every exhibit includes informative, intelligible English captions.
Starting at the top, the 3rd floor is a vast history section that sprawls through thousands of years along with a multi-floor block printing exhibit with live demonstrations and a huge library of printing blocks.
The 2nd floor exhibits Yangzhou's love for the skill of carving various materials into art. Intricately carved jade, bamboo, stone, porcelain, peach pits (incredible!), and wood objects are on display, spanning around two thousand years. The 2nd floor also features a painting and calligraphy exhibit of the famous Yangzhou “Eight Eccentric” artists, and a huge Tang Dynasty dragon boat.
The 1st floor is a 'model lovers' dream. There is an enormous model of a somewhat unrealistic, albeit futuristic city plan and a statistical frenzy of graphs and data hanging on the walls.
Strangely enough, visitors emerge from displays of Yangzhou's beautiful and proud culture back outside into the modern day China of construction and homogenous housing blocks.
Allow about an hour and a half to visit the museum, which is certainly worthwhile for appreciating one of China’s most legendary cities.
Bus numbers 26 (running the length of Wenchang Road), 308, and 22 all stop at the museum. A cab ride from the center of town should cost around 15 Yuan.

Victory Consulting Company (威克瑞管理咨询有限公司) has two laser tag locations in Shenyang: one indoors and one outdoors. The indoor location is inside an old swimming pool building, and is quite interesting. There are two floors and dozens of rooms to battle in, which provides enough variety to easily keep your interest for a couple hours. The outdoor “battlefield” is located outside the city near Qipan Shan Scenic Area. Both locations use laser weapons (sorry, no paintballs).
Probably the best way to play is to find a big group of friends and reserve a time to play together. However, there is no minimum amount so feel free to go alone or with a couple friends. The staff will set you up with a game. To sign up for the outdoor games, you can visit their company headquarters, or visit the indoor playground.
The cost for the indoor game is 30 yuan per person per hour. The outdoor game costs 188 yuan per person for a whole day. You can buy a membership card to receive significant discounts on the outdoor game.
Indoor Facility: On North San Jing Jie (北三经街) near Ba Yi Park (八一公园). Ask a taxi driver for bā yī gōngyuán, sānjīng jiiē. Look for a big old building on the east side of the street with a huge picture of camouflaged “soldiers” on the front of the building.

Historical attractions can also be found in the garden, including Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall, Tomb of Liang Qichao, Temple of the Sleeping Buddha and December 9th Pavilion. Cao Xueqin, a celebrated novelist of China, is well-known for his masterpiece: A Dream of Red Mansions. The Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall depicts a vivid scene of a mountain village and evokes the mystery of this great author. The Tomb of Liang Qichao, a famous reformist in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), lies beyond the wooded area of the garden. The Temple of the Sleeping Buddha was constructed early in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) when a huge copper Sakyamuni statue, together with twelve smaller Buddha figurines was worshipped. The December 9th Pavilion is built in memory of the December 9th Movement, which took place in 1935 and called for an end to the civil war and resistance towards the Japanese aggressors.
