Xi'an-Xianyang International Airport
Xi'an-Xianyang International Airport (XIY) is located 50 kilometers northwest apart from the urban districts of Xi'an. It was completed in 1991. As the largest airport in Northwestern region of China, XIY Airport plays an important role as the hubs of aid commutation in China. There are more and more domestic and international scheduled flights have been established.
Xianyang used to be the capital of Qin Dynasty in which the world famous Terra Cotta warriors and horses were created. Archaeologists have discovered the site of the imperial palace and even numerous precious historical artifacts. In China, Xianyang is known as a large Underground Treasures House. Because there are 27 mausoleums of Emperors with the company of other 256 tombs of the royalties here, such as Mausoleum Changling of Emperor Han Gaozu Liu Bang, Mausoleum Yangling of Emperor Han Jingdi Liu Qi, Mausoleum Maoling of Emperor Han Wudi Liu Che, Mausoleum Zhaoling of Emperor Tang Taizong Li Shimin, Mausoleum Qianling of Emperor Tang Gaozong Li Zhi and Empress Wu Zetian, etc..
Some of them have been excavated officially and opened to the tourists now, like the Mausoleum Yangling of Emperor Han Jingdi Liu Qi, tomb of prince Zhanghuai, tomb of prince Yide, and tomb of princess Yongtai, and so no.
With the surrending of eight rivers in directions, Xi'an always enjoy a name as the land of flowing milk and honey for its fertile soil, nice climate and rich material resources. Therefore, in the history of China , Xi'an had always been a town of great military importance for the advantageous geographic location and rich natural resources of it.
I have stayed in Xi'an for almost seven years, but still not seeing all the interesting places yet.
