Trek to Petra

Trek to Petra is one of the special and great tours you can do on an old ancient trail from Dana reserve to Petra for more than 65 km through the mountains trekking up and down in a Bedouins nomadic life style, enjoying the views around including flora and fauna. It is about 4 wonderful days trail before reaching Petra.

What we offer you for the visit of Petra are not a glimpse or a fast visit for less than one day which is easy to do, but we give the chance for you to feel the spirit of Petra and to imagine how the Nabatians live, to see the magic of nature and the beauty of it.


There is tow ways to do it Supported or Unsupported, the one we provide right now is the Unsupported.

 , Start gathering at 06:00 am, bus moving 07:00 am, morning drive to Dead Sea for breakfast, float, 2 hours free time, then drive to Dana Nature Reserve , hike to Om Sakakin canyon. Trekking (hrs) 5, Overnight Accommodation Wadi araba camping near a Perennial spring.

- The trail elevation are different between up and down with a some difficulty.

- There will be rest stops between while and while.
- Return back to Amman 28-Dec-13 , at 08:00 pm – arriving Amman at 12:00 am.
- The residency option is upon request and it is included but without services.
- Also please note that tips are not included.

what do you need to do it ?

The well and good health before anything else, then you need a Comfort and protection against the weather are of prime importance. Because the weather is so very variable in Jordan, I recommend a number of thin layers rather than a few thick ones. Clothes will get rough treatment! This equipment list is intended as a guideline for your use.

Clothing
Pair of worn-in walking boots, stiff soled, fabric or leather and waterproof, the more breathable the better
Rugged sandals and/or sneakers (for evenings and to relieve the feet at camps)
Trekking trousers: fast-drying, moisture wicking. Pant legs that zip off to become shorts are a very good idea
Trekking shorts: preferably not “too short” shorts
Socks: heavy duty, moisture wicking
Warm fleece or jacket
Sun hat (wide brim)
Fleece hat
Waterproof trekking jacket with hood
Waterproof pants
Thermal layer (top & bottom)
Light gloves

Equipment
Day pack (1) (30+ liters) with waterproof cover, or waterproof liner
sleeping mats, blankets, comforters and pillows, sleeping bag, sleeping bag liner are mostly required.
Water on trek is supplied by plastic bottles however a “hydration system” (Camelback/Platypus) is highly recommended (3 liter size is best) and a mouthpiece cover is highly recommended!
Towel – quick drying pack towel is recommended

Wet wipes for “dry washing” while 3 nights or more camping, (i.e. no shower!)

 day 1 we will start our trip with a short tour in down town to reach the Roman theater ( the biggest theater in Jordan) the we will drive up to the citadel of Amman to see layers of civilizations from the Greek bases to the Roman temple of Hercules ,Byzantine church  ,early Islamic mosque and hall  and some ottoman structures( overnight in Madaba)

day 2 will start by visiting a church from the fifth century called the church of the map the church floor paved with a mosaic map for the holly land . after that we will visit mount Nebo ( Byzantine monastery) the place where prophet Moses passed away and buried by god .relaxing time will start when we reach the dead sea ( the lowest point on earth ) to swim and to have lunch( overnight in Madaba)

day 3 from the hotel we will drive through kings way to cross al Mujed canyon one of the best canyon in Jordan by the kings way we will reach Karak to see a crusaders castle ( the third biggest castle in the middle east). then we will drive through the desert highway to reach Petra ( overnight)

day 4  driving  few minutes from the hotel we will reach the gate to Petra( one of the seven wonders) , walking all the way to  the gorge which lead to the treasury  the most famous facade in Petra ,  then we will see the street of facades , the theater , royal tombs the temples and  the Byzantine  church , finally we will step over 800 steps to reach the monastery                             ( overnight in Petra) .

day 5 from Petra city we will drive for 1 hour and half to enter Wadi rum (natural reserve) to enjoy the beauty of desert by driving in a jeep for 3 hours

Best of Jordan 5 Days 4 nights

Day 1 : Arrival at QAIA in amman , meet & assist , transfer to Visit Amman  , start with the old city of Philadelphia ( Greek Time )  to visit the citadel , amman theater ,  drive through the old markets of traditional clothing market , gold market , spice market , proceed to modern city of amman passing the royal palaces , Drive around the modern neighborhoods with its villas & modern buildings with its red tops . overnight in amman

Day 2 : Transfer to  Visit Mt. Nebo ,  the place where Moses gazed at the Promised Land before he died and believed to be his burial place. overlook the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, Jericho and Jerusalem  , proceed to visit  madaba with it's  most famous mosaic is located in the 6th century Church of St. George in the middle of town. The Mosaic Map of Palestine represents the Holy Land and its surrounding regions , afternoon Proceed Via desert high Way to Petra , check in hotel over night in petra

 Day3 : Start Full  day tour to explore the ancient city of Petra, one of the world seven wonders and the home of the Nabateans, A complete city carved into the mountains with huge colorful rocks giving it the name of the Rosy City with its spectacular treasury, Royal Tombs, burial chambers and high places of sacrifice. overnight in petra. 

 Day4 :Transfer to the Dead Sea area . visit bethany  the place where John baptized; the expression "beyond the Jordan" referring to the east bank of the river. In a later reference to the same place on the east bank, John 10:40 says that Jesus travelled across the Jordan to the place where John first baptized, proceed to dead sea resort , check in dead sea resort , free time at Leisure to enjoy The dead sea beach and to experience swimming, floating, muding & resort Spa Facilities . Overnight at dead sea Hotel. 

Day 5 : ( in case of late departure flight )  Transfer to the north of Jordan to visit the greeco - roman city of Jarash , considered one of the largest and most well-preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world outside Italy. To this day, its colonnaded streets, baths, theaters, plazas and arches remain in exceptional condition , proceed to the airport for departure .farewell ,  END OF SERVICE .
