Joy is a Fantastic tour guide! We had a group of 5 people traveling in China for the first time from the US. We wanted to get a private tour (ie, small group, personalized attention) and avoided the large, boring, impersonal tour groups. After searching online for several days, we found Joy's bio to be interesting. She's well-travelled, young, yet very knowledgeable. Her English was also excellent. After reviewing the itinerary that she recommended, we agreed to reserve an entire day's tour of Shanghai with a private van and driver. Having a driver is a great idea because you will save time not having to find parking!
We ended up going to the following locations:
+Yuyuan Garden
+Nanjing East Road
+The Bund
+Tian Zi Fang
+Several shopping sites along the way
Last minute, my group and I wanted to get custom suits and shirts made. Joy made a few phone calls and found us a popular suit place. Wow, were we impressed with the craftsmanship and speed of this place. Had 1 fitting at the store and another at the hotel. No extra alterations needed. Incredible! Ask her about this place when you go.
As far as the tour was concerned, Joy was very cool and accommodating to our short time frame. At the same time, we never felt rushed. She gave us all the historical tidbits of each site and took us to a great noodle place on Nanjing East Road. All in all, everyone had a great time.
A couple of days after our Shanghai tour, our group decided to travel to Beijing. We called Joy for advice and she helped our group with travel plans to Beijing. She recommended us to a tour guide friend in Beijing who also gave us a great tour of the city. We really appreciated Joy's helpfulness.
For your next trip to China, I highly recommend Joy to be your tour guide.
