The Voortrekker Monument, a unique South African treasure. The giant grey colossus can be seen from all directions as you approach Pretoria. The massive Voortrekker Monument, built in honour of the Voortrekkers( pioneers) who left the Cape Colony in their thousands between 1835-1854.The architect was Gerhard Moerdijk, it was his ideal to build a monument that would stand thousand years to describe the history and the meaning of the Great Trek to its descendants. The Voortrekker Monument has much history and also has various other sites on the grounds of interest.

Sterkfontein Caves is one of South  Africa's famous heritage sites, situated in the Cradle of Humankind in the western part of Gauteng. This unspoilt rural area is abundant with caves. The famous skull known as Mrs Ples was discovered by Robert Broom in 1947.
