La Roque Gageac is a beautiful village in Dordogne, Aquitaine which beauty testifies the fact that is listed among The Most Beautiful Villages of France.
Golden yellow houses are backed by steep cliffs and are spread over the hills. During the history, the village had an important role in trade and defense. The vestiges of construction from the 12th century are still standing. The most impressive building in La Roque-Gageac is the Renaissance Manoir de Tarde which was an important trading point for river boats.
The entire village looks liko one of those described in fairy tales, surrounded with beautiful river, green meadows and forest.
