The Shen’s Garden is located at Luxun Middle Street, about 200 meters away from the Luxun Native Place. This garden boasts more than 800 years of history. Shen is the family name of the garden’s former owner, hence the name, "The Shen’s Garden". This garden is also known as the Love Garden, in accordance with one classic love story. Lu You (1125-1210), one of China's most famous poets, actually authored more poems than any other poet in Chinese history, nearly 10,000! In the year 1151 Lu You met his lover Tang Wan in this very garden, and then composed a poem on the wall in the garden. In the Chinese tradition, parents are responsible for the marriages of their children. Young adults were not necssarily permitted to marry to the one he or she most desired. Sadly, Lu You and his lover suffered the same fate as they too were not allowed to marry. Their last date was spent in The Shen's Garden, so visitors come to the Shen’s Garden not only for the beautiful ambiance, but also to understand this heartbreaking love story. The Shen’s Garden is an obvious symbol of love, so young people often come here to display their love to one another.

You can take a boat trip from the Luxun Native Place. It costs 15 RMB per person. There are also boat trips provided at some other tourist attractions including Lu Town, Ke Yan, and others.

Buses cost 2 RMB which should be paid in change. Some special bus lines which travel outside the city center, such as Ke Qiao, have a ticket-seller onboard.

Tour Schedule
After pickup from your Hangzhou hotel, make your way to Shaoxing, hometown of Lu You, one of China’s greatest poets from the Song Dynasty. One of the best ways to experience this water town is aboard a Wupeng boat (a black-awning gondola). Ride on one of these traditional Chinese boats and enjoy the exquisite scenery of the town’s ancient bridges, lovely riverside houses and the bustling local bazaars set right by the water.
Next, walk over to Shen Garden and marvel at the gorgeous classical buildings and bridges and wonderful scenery. As you stroll through the garden, your guide will tell you the story about how Lu You met his lover Tang Wan in this garden and composed poems about her and wrote them on the walls.
After enjoying a delicious Chinese lunch at a local restaurant, you will on a short walk to the Lanting Orchid Pavilion. Surrounded by an elegant landscape of crystal-clear streams and dense bamboo groves, this venue has become a central meeting point for local calligraphers. Witness the meticulous display of this skill and marvel at the beautiful finished pieces.
