Lima Historic Downtown District
The historic center of Lima was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991 for the great concentration of different colonial and replublican-time buildings such as palaces, churches, monasteries, convents most of which show the strong Moorish influence Lima received during the foundation of the city on January 18, 1535.
Lima is also know as the CITY OF THE KINGS and invites you to discover all its attractions and culture.

In 1991, the UNESCO designtated this part of city as a World Heritage Site for its more than 800 historical monuments for example colonial houses, palaces, churches, cathedrals, and convents and Moorish-style wooden balconies. We are visiting the cathedral of Lima where the founder of the city Francisco Pizarro is buried as well as the Franciscan complex for going down to the only Catacombs in S. America where around 25,000 people were buried from the 16th to the 19th centuries.
