Family Planning is one of China’s national policies. It just suits China’s status in quo. (actuality//present situation).
The suggestion of Family Planning was brought forward in 1979 by a famous scholar. But it was not attached importance to. With the development of society and economy, the problem of a large population came into being with a negative effect on people’s living standard. Because the more people, the less the distributive resources. And a large population needs a large quantity of job offers. It is a heavy burden for a developing country. In order to accelerate the fast development of economy, the policy of Family Planning was issued by the government. At the very beginning, some people didn’t like the policy especially the senior citizens because they believed that to raise how many children was their own business and it had nothing to do with government. they had a deep concept. They thought that a family without sons was declining and the family would be looked down upon even be teased by the neighbors. So they prefer sons than daughters, and the more, the merrier. Sons are fortunes and futures. Having more sons was a visible evidence for prospering kindred. In the far villages, if a young couple started a family with a daughter, in order not to let their parents down, they, of course, would try the second time; the third time till a boy was born. The final result was that the family got larger and life became harder. And the problem was that that kind of thing happened all the time years ago. In the same time, they had been comparing the two hands, to have a better life or to have more children.
Today, more and more people have changed their conservative minds. The new concept is that quality is important than quantity for population. The issue of ‘One Couple, One Child’ has already benefited many families. The only child of a family can have a better education and a better life, for the family can afford it. The Family Planning policy is popular with Chinese people now because we know that our government cares for not only human right but also people’s life.
