About this place
The Gothic Quarter is the oldest part of Barcelona. Founded by the Romans 2000 years ago under the name "Barcino", it grew from being a small vacation town into being the capital of the Crown of Aragon.
This is why you can see here Roman ruins such as the City Walls, the Aqueduct and the Temple of Augustus, but also remarkable gothic constructions: don't miss the Cathedral of Saint Eulàlia and the Holy Cross as well as the Royal Palace.
Enjoy walking around its medieval alleys (I love c/Bisbe with its neo-gothic bridge, and the backside of the Cathedral) and squares (Sant Felip Neri, Plaça Sant Jaume and Plaça del Rei)
