Beishan is called Longgangshan in ancient time, 1.5km away from Longgang  Town of Dazu County, Chongqing, Beishan Rock Carving was made between 892 to 1162, with a carved area of 300m long and 7 to 10 m high. there are 264 caves of statues. 

     altogether there are  10000 statues at Beishan Rock Carvings made bu secular Buddhist followers, with 51 subjects and half of them are of Tantric Buddhism. the rest are of Three Ranks Sect and Oure Land Sect. all these subjects are very popolar at that time and different from China's grottos statues of early times.  Beishan Rock Carvings , with fine sculpture , craftsmanship and elegance, fully reflects the changes of Chinese folk Buddhist worship and grotto art styles between the end of 9th century and middle 12th century.
