The Traditional Costume of Yi Women in Mengzi

The traditional costumes of Yi women in Mengzi are quite elegant, even the costumes for elder women, middle-aged women and young women are different from one another.

Young girls normally have their hair braided in a single pigtail, wearing the embroidered clothes with silver bubble or bell ornaments; hats in cockscomb style; and clothes are normally with wide sleeves and trouser legs decorated by a colorful embroidered lace at the edge. Their shoes are pointed shoes embroidered in red and green. After marriage, they will change their headwear to a piece of square cloth or a towel in red and green to band their hairs, and the silver bracelet, rings, earrings and the embroidered corset are generally adorned throughout their bodies.

The middle-aged and elder women normally wear in violet blue or dark blue, and traditional white embroidered shoes.
