Peak Lookout

The main walking tour of Hong Kong is the perfect introduction to the city. designed it to take i the three faces of the city: traditional, modern and natural. Along the way, of course, you'll have a chance to sample some authentic Hong Kong food. I will meet you in the lobby of your hotel and take you to the start of the tour. The tour starts right in the heart of Central where you'll get close look at the famous skyscrapers of Hong Kong Island and relive some of the city's most historic events. You'll then head to Hong Kong Park for a welcome bit of greenery and fresh air. After a refreshing interlude in the park, you'll head up to Victoria Peak to the lookout where you'll get to enjoy one of the world's most famous views; the incredible panorama of Hong Kong Island, Victoria Harbour and Kowloon. This is good chance to orient yourself to the layout of Hong Kong, and I will point out all the important sites. By now you might be ready for a quick lunch in one of The Peak's many coffee shop and cafe choices. You'll then board the tram and head down to Lower Albert Road where you will alight and make your way toward Wyndham Street, where i can point out other dining options based on your personal tastes an on seating availability. Continus walking through one of Hong Kong's great open-air food market's. If you've never tried mangosteens, durian, or rambutans, this is your chance! Your will walk along Hollywood Road to Man Mo Temple, an incense-filled world unto its own - if you've never been inside a c\Chinese temple, this is a great introduction to Chinese religions. Then you'll duck into the Cat street market. After leaving the market, you'll walk down into the Borham Strand area to check out the fascinating herbal apothecaries ad dried seafood shops. This is Hong Kong at its most traditional, and the street scenes here will probably fulfill your image of Old Hong Kong. From here, you'll take one of Hong Kong's famous trams for the trip back to Central and onward to your hotel.

The bustling city of Hong Kong was just a collection of fishing villages when claimed by Britain in 1842 following the First Opium War with China. This failed attempt by the Ching Dynasty to stop the British trading in opium led to Hong Kong being ceded to Britain under the Treaty of Nanking that year. The Kowloon Peninsula was handed over in 1860 and a 99-year lease on the New Territories, comprising the area north of Kowloon up to the Shenzhen River plus 235 outlying islands, was granted in 1898.

Under the unique principle of 'One Country, Two Systems', Hong Kong returned to Chinese sovereignty on 1 July 1997 as a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. This arrangement allows Hong Kong to enjoy a high degree of autonomy, retaining its capitalist system, independent judiciary and rule of law, free trade and freedom of speech.

The Centre, covering 5.2 hectares and offering 82,231m² gross floor area, commands a prime waterfront position. Since its grand opening on 8 November 1989, the Centre has remained the premier cultural venue offering stimulating environment for arts talents and quality programmes to the public, and has since been witnessing the development of the arts in Hong Kong.

- railway clock station - The Clock Tower is a landmark in Hong Kong. It is located on the southern shore of Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. It is the only remnant of the original site of the former Kowloon Station on the Kowloon-Canton Railway. Officially named Former Kowloon-Canton Railway Clock Tower (traditional Chinese: 前九廣鐵路鐘樓), it is usually referred to as the Tsim Sha Tsui Clock Tower (traditional Chinese: 尖沙咀鐘樓) for its location.
