Museum of Naxi Dongba Culture

In the morning, I pick you up at hotels at 9:00 am.

We start at the Big Water Wheels. The water wheels had been used for the milling and irrigating systems, now only for decorations. Just by the water wheels is the landmark for the title of Lijiang Dayan Ancient Town, World Cultural Heritage.

After the water wheels, we step into the narrow pub alley with a clear stream going through it. It gives you a feeling to experience the time tunnel how the Naxi people lived and worked in the old town since it was built 800 years ago. Today it is a very good place to relax and have a drink in the day, and also a paradise  for the young guys to let them have the own way at night.

Next we climb to the top of the Lion Hill, Wangulou Pavilion to shoot the panorama of the old town, the new town and the Yulong Snow Mountain.

Square Market had been a real market before 1998, you could notice how the former natives washed the square everyday after the busy business. And today it is also a landmark where the Kegongfang Archway is soaring on the west, showing people the cultural exchange between Naxi minority and Han people.

After lunch, we walk along the Jade River to the Heilongtan Park in 20 minutes. The park is picturesque. At the picture point you can shoot the Five-archway Bridge, The Moon-near Pavilion, One-penny Pavilion and Yulong Snow Mountain far away, and their reflections in the mirror-like lake.

Then we go through the antique tree forest to the Naxi museum. There you will know what the Naxi Pictograph looks like and the customs of Naxi minority.

Day 1: land in lijiang airport-Lijiang old town-local vegetable maket

Pick up in lijiang interantional airport, and drop you in the hotel of lijiang .in the afternoon, meet you in the hotel, take you to visit a Local naxi vegetable market , visit the squre market, walking around oldtown of lijiang, you can see many old building, beautiful canals, and ancient stone briage  You will understand why lijiang is called “venice in the east” Then you may find a nice cafe near the canal, enjoying the cosy living situation in lijiang. Then climb to the top lion hill enjoyed bird view of old town.

Day 2:Yuhu village-Baisha village-Naxi ochestra

After you had breakfast, meet you in the lobby, drive you to yuhu village,20km north of lijiang, visit the house of Dr. J.F Rock who was a former residence of American Austrian, he stay in lijiang for 27 years from 1922 to 1949, his house was the former headquaters of American national Geographic sociaty’s Yunnan expidition. Then we continue our tour to Baisha villiage, Baisha was the capital of naxi kingdom ,where you will see naxi lady dressing in their traditional costume. You can enjoy a special naxi lunch in the local resturant.  Then visit dongba cultural musem to  learn some naxi hieroglyphic . enjoy famous naxi orchestra directed by Mr xuanke at  night , when you are enjoying the 500 years old music, you will enjoy Mr xuanke’s story and humor too.

Day 3. Lijiang-first bend of yangtze river-liming tortoise’s mountain

You will check out today from lijiang hotel, meet you in the lobby and drive to shigu,  it is called stone drum in english. visit the first bend of yangtze river, then visit the mounument of red army and the village. Drive to liming, then we will limb to the top of mountain, on the top ,we can see thousands of tortoise’s shap sand rock. You will see the most famous dangxia landform in south china.  If  the weather is good , you can see stunning sunset in the valley.

2. have relaxing walk in stone drum village
3. climbing tortoise’s mountain in liming

Day 4. liming valley-tiger leaping gorge—lijiang

After breakfast, we will have relaxing walk in liming valley, enjoy the masterpiece of great nature, You will be amazed at the danxia landform ,the graver of mother nature, Then drive to tigerleaping gorge, on the way to tiger leaping gorge, you can see snow caped peak of jade dragon snow mountain. Tiger leaping gorge is 3900m deep, just between jade dragon snow mountain and haba snow mountain.  it’s one of the deepest gorge in the world . a perfect place for a lesure walk for 1.5 hours. Then we drive back to lijiang

You can see lisu ethnic group go to church on Sunday dressing the traditional clothing in liming. lisu people were converted into christian by french missionary in 19 century,even nowadays, christianity is still a popular religion in the village.

D2:  Lijiang  to Shaxi ancient village (2.5 hours driving) . on the way visiting the ShiBaoshan grottoes which was made in 1000 years ago,and the Stone Bell Temples which was hung in the middle of the mountain. overnight at Shaxi.

D3:  Shaxi to Shangri-la.(4.5 hours driving).on the way visiting the First Bend of the Yangze River in the Stone Drum town and the Tiger-leaping Gorge. overnight at Shangri-la.

D4:  Visiting Songzanling monastery,the most biggest Lamaism Temple in Yunnan Province and the Tibetan family. in the afternoon Shangri-la to Lijiang (4 hours driving) . overnight at Lijiang.

D5:the day sightseeing in Lijiang: the local market, Mu's house(Lijiang Local king's house), the Black Dragon Pool Park ,Dongba Museum,and Baisha village to see some local Naxi people's life.  overnight at Lijiang.

D15:transfer to the airport
