Ferries are the only transportation to get onto Gulangyu islet in Xiamen. The new Wharfs and new policies for the ferries confuse most of tourists. Here are my tips to the new tourists.
1. Take ferries on Dongdu Cruise Ship Wharf or Songyu Wharf in Haichang in the day time, while on Lundu Wharf in the night time ( After 17:20 in the winter and after 18:20 in summer)

2. Two ship routes on Dongdu Cruise Ship Wharf.
a) Dongdu to Shanqiutian Wharf on Gulangyu.  A liner every 20 minutes, RMB35 per ticket for round trip. First liner from Dongdu is at 07:10am, latest liner 17:30(in winter) or 18:30(in summer)
东渡邮轮中心码头至鼓浪屿三丘田码头航线。每20分钟一班，票价35元往返，东渡邮轮中心码头发船，首班07:10，末班17:30（冬季）、18:30（夏季）。
b) Dongdu to Neicuoao Wharf on Gulangyu. A liner every 20 minutes, RMB35(regular ship) per ticket for round trip or RMB50(luxury ship) per ticket for round trip. Regular ship leaves at 50th minutes of each hour. First liner from Dongdu is at 07:10, latest liner at 17:30(in winter), 18:30 (in summer)
东渡邮轮中心码头至鼓浪屿内厝澳码头航线。每20分钟一班，往返票价包括35元（普通船）和50元（豪华船）两种，其中每小时逢50分的航班为35元，东渡邮轮中心码头发船，首班07:10，末班17:30（冬季）、18:30（夏季）。
3. There is only one ship route from Songyu Wharf in Haicang district. That’s Songyu to Necuowo Wharf on Gulangyu. The ship leaves at the 30th and 50th minutes of every hour. A ticket costs RMB30. First liner from Songyu is at 07:30, latest line 17:50(in winter), 18:50( in summer)
海沧嵩屿码头仅提供一条往返航线:海沧嵩屿码头至鼓浪屿内厝澳码头航班，逢30分和50分发船，票价30元往返，首班07:30，末班17:50（冬季）、18:50（夏季）。
4. During the day time, tourists can leave Gulangyu from Shanqiutian Wharf or Neicuoao and go back to Dongdu Cruise Ship Wharf or leave Gulangyu from Neicuoao and go back to Songyu.
白天游客可从三区田码头或内厝澳码头离开鼓浪屿回到东渡游轮码头或从内厝澳码头离开鼓浪屿回到海沧嵩屿码头
a) Shangqiutian to Dongdu. First liner is at 07:20, latest liner 17:40(in winter), 18:40 (in summer)
b) Neicuoao to Dongdu. First liner is at 07:20, latest liner 17:40(in winter), 18:40 (in summer).
c) Neicuoao to Songyu in Haichang. First liner is at 07:20. The later liners leave on the hours and the 20th minute of every hour.  Latest liner is at 17:20(in winter), 18:20 ( in summer)
鼓浪屿内厝澳码头至海沧嵩屿码头，首班07:20，逢整点和20分发船，末班17:20（冬季）、18:20（夏季）。
5. In the night time (After 17:20 in the winter and after 18:20 in summer). To get on Gulangyu, tourists have to take ferries from Lundu Wharf on Lujing Dao to Shangqiutian Wharf on Gulangyu. Night time ferry tickets are also RMB35 but with luxury ship. Tourists get on the ship from No.2 Hall. First liner leaves at 17:50(in winter), 18:50 (in summer). A liner every 20 minutes before 20:50, while 21:15-23:45, a liner every half an hour.
厦鼓游客夜间航线航班（鹭江道轮渡码头-鼓浪屿三丘田码头），票价也是35元往返，但使用豪华船，和白天一样实行航班制船票。鹭江道轮渡码头2号厅发船，首班17:50（冬季）、18:50（夏季），在20:50之前都是每20分钟一班，21:15-23:45为每半小时一班；
6. There are overnight liners starting at 00:45 from Lundu Wharf to get on the islet, and 01:00 from Piano Wharf to leave the islet. A Roud trip Ticket costs RMB35
夜间航班没了，还有通宵航班，游客通宵航线航班, 票价35元往返。轮渡发船，首班00:45， 鼓浪屿钢琴码头发船首班01:00.

Xiamen Tourist Attractions

Xiamen is recognized as one of the most scenic places to visit in China. There are beautiful beaches, parks, museums and interesting cultural attractions to spend days exploring. The main tourist attraction in Xiamen, Gulangyu, is a delightful little island just a 10 minute ferry ride from the heart of down town. It’s a great place to spend a day but it’s even better to schedule two or three days to see all it has to offer.  Hulishan Fort, only a 10 minute bus ride from the ferry terminal, provides the visitor a look at the past military history of Xiamen along with breathtaking views of the ocean. Xiamen University, one of the most beautiful campuses in China, if not the world, is just a short walk from Hulishan. For the temple enthusiast, Xiamen’s Nanpuoto Temple is a very well preserved 9^th century temple that continues to serve as a place of worship. Wanshi Park, also a short bus ride from down town, has lakes, parks, temples, an amusement area and a botanical garden area with over 4000 species of plants.  There are a number of other exceptional parks in Xiamen including, Zhongshan Park, Xianyue park and Bailuzhou park. For a day trip, try Jimei Study Village and Turtle Park located just north of Xiamen Island across the Xiamen Bridge.

Gulangyu is the third largest island off the coast of Xiamen, a city in Fujian Province in southern China. It is about 2 km2 (0.77 sq mi) in area. It is home to about 20,000 people and is a domestic tourist destination. The only vehicles permitted are small electric buggies and electric government service vehicles. Visitors can reach it by ferry from the ferry terminal in Xiamen. Local residents are allowed to use a shorter 5 minute ferry to/from Heping Ferry Terminal. Tourists and non-locals must now take a longer 20 minute ferry ride from Dongdu International Terminal, as of October 20, 2014 with a fare increase from 8 yuan to 35 yuan. This has been in order to reduce tourist numbers accessing the island in an effort to conserve it. Gulangyu Island is renowned for its beaches and winding lanes and its varied architecture. The island is on China’s list of National Scenic Spots and also ranks at the top of the list of the ten most-scenic areas in the province.
