Excellent Guide – Michael Yang Michael was our personal guide for 2 days in XIAN in October 2015. He picked us up at the airport at 1.30 am and took us to our hotel. He spoke very good English. He had his own Toyota Camry and provided refreshments along the way. He had excellent knowledge of XIAN past and present, and adjusted the schedule to suit our needs. We had set this up before leaving together with agreed fees. We saw all the main sights including the amazing Terracotta warriors, the City Wall, the Muslim Quarter, Neolithic village and lots more. He avoided all the tourist traps, arranged local meals at local prices, purchased all entry tickets and paid for everything along the way including parking fees, meals, tolls etc. He assisted us with local purchases, personally dropped us off and picked us up from an evening cultural show, and on departure escorted us and carried our luggage as far as he could through to security at the bullet train station for our departure to Beijing. He charged us exactly what was agreed, with no extra surprises, so we gave him a reasonable tip. Michael could not have done any more for us. He is a pleasant and engaging guide and comes highly recommended from us for any English speaking tourist planning to visit the beautiful city of XIAN. We are a couple early 70s from Australia. Our Daughter used Michael 9 months ago also with excellent reviews. Eugene B

I was great experience to meet Mr. Michael Yang. We had good deal with reasonable price at E-mail and on the right time we meet in the hotel lobby. Visiting terracota museum with Mr. Michael yang was great he told us many secrets and stories in well equipped car. the best thing on the trip was the cold cola after finishing terracotta :)

If I got the chance to visit Xian again Mr. Michael Yang will be my first choice ...... I recommend him to you

I warmly recommend anyone Michael as a guide.

You may do the trip to Terra Cotta Warrior on your own maybe at a cheaper cost but the price (600 RMB) of a private guide like Michael is worthwhile. You just need to enjoy the moment.

On a Chinese trip with my wife and two sons Michael adapted himself to us. His English pronounciation is perfect which is appreciable for us French.

He gave us a lot of details and explanation all along the day which make us discovered the Terra Cotta in a different way.

On top of his guide professionalism he drives safely a clean and new car. He also brought us the services of some cold drinks and fresh towels: these kind of small attentions make all the difference.

Michael met us at the airport and from the moment we met him it was obvious that he was a highly professional guide. His attention to detail on the little extras like bottled water waiting for us in the van was good.  He had a well planned itinerary which had been emailed to us prior to agreeing to the trip.  As we worked our way through the itinerary it became apparent it was planned in such a way to avoid the busier times where possible and reduce travelling time in the van.

At each of the museums including the Terracotta Soldiers he came in with us and provided very knowledgeable explanations and background stories which made the Terracotta Soldiers a highlight of our trip. Further more he was at times able to avoid queues and assisted in getting us to the front of an exhibit which is not alway easy with the hustle and bustle of the large local Chinese speaking tour groups.

His English was excellent and was an asset when we had problems booking in at our hotel. He in fact provided us his mobile number that we contact him on if we had any problems for the rest of our trip in China.

He also provided advice on where to go and what we could do at night while not on his tour.   I highly recommend Michael as a tour guide in Xian.

Michael was our guide when we went to Xi'an over the APEC break.  There were 10 of us in the group with ages ranging between 8 and 70.  Despite that, he was able to make it fun and interesting for all in the group. His knowledge and experience were apparent when he could answer almost any question being thrown at him.  All of us certainly left Xi'an with a better understanding of this part of Chinese history.

In addition, his tours were not limited to just the usual Hua Shan and Terracotta warriors.  On his own initiative, he arranged for us to visit the underground Ming tombs on the day of our departure, showing us another aspect of the lesser known barrier site.  And instead of bringing us to some fancy Chinese restaurant for lunch where he would have made some commissions, he took us to taste the economical and authentic local noodle, Biang Biang Mian which everyone of us enjoyed.  That was deemed to be the best meal for the entire trip!

All of us certainly enjoyed our time in Xi'an and we will definitely recommend Michael to our friends if they are headed there.
